Best Park for Roller Coasters and Thrill Rides

Very good assessment! :thumbsup2

Sounds familiar to me!:rotfl:

IOA!!!!:thumbsup2

Two (or Three) super rollercoasters with The Hulk and Dueling Dragons. I indicated possibly three because Dueling Dragons has 2 seperate tracks that interact with each other and could (should) be considered as 2 rollercoasters.

Three awesome water rides: Popeye & Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges, a circular raft ride through white-water rapids that will get you drenched; Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls, a fantastic log ride; and Jurassic Park River Adventure, a boat tour past dinosaurs.

IOA has several other thrill rides such as my favorite, The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man; as well as Doctor Doom's Fearfall and The Cat In The Hat.

the lines at cedar point in the summer are way llllllooooonnnngggggggggg...

been there, done that.

Here's what you got to do...

We have season tickets to the Ohio State home games, and we go to almost all of them (counting down to the Michigan game) and one time while we're up there, we drive to the Point on Sunday after the game and we get on everything, no wait! (Even Millenium Force) It's awesome when the crowds are scarce!

IOA definitely hosts some of the greatest coasters in the southeast. Here is my personal list of favorite coasters in the area. (Note: I have not been to Busch Gardens, Tampa yet).

1. Goliath -Six Flags Over Georgia
2. The Incredible Hulk -IOA
3. Dueling Dragons -IOA
4. Rockin' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith -DHS
5. Superman: Ultimate Flight -Six Flags Over Georgia
6. Kraken -Sea World Orlando

Forget Florida coasters! Go to Cedar Point next summer! 17 roller coasters! Four of them have been the tallest coasters in the world at some point in time. One of them right now is only about fifteen feet short of the record and like 5 miles per hour slower than the fastest (Top Thrill Dragster) Best roller coasters I've ever been on!

If you've got to stick to Florida though, I'd say IOA. It's my home park:lmao: But The Hulk is one of my favorite rides and Dueling Dragons isn't too shabby either:laughing: Busch Gardens is one I haven't visited as much, but their coasters (while their are more) pale in comparison to IOA's. Kumba has no launch and Montu has no dueling, so their IOA counterparts are better. However, in addition to those less-superior rides, Busch Gardens has Gwazi (an average wooden dueling wooden roller coaster) Scorpion (a mild looping ride, pretty fun, not too extreme) Cheetah Chase (a kind of fruity wild mouse) and Sheikra (awesome vertical drop ride, but very short). Also, Busch's only very-neat thrill ride is Rhino Rally safari-jeep ride, while IOA has Dr. Doom, Spider-Man (:3dglasses  ) high-class shows, well-themed water rides, etc.

Quantity= Busch Gardens
Quality=IOA

ABSOLUTELY THE BEST,I live a short drive fron Six flags New Jersey and New England, but Cedar Point blows them away.Is best to stay at least 3 days to hit everything more than once.Sometimes you just have to eat it and stand in line.Top Thrill Dragster is the best( when it`s running).Stay on sight, enjoy the beach, short walk to the water park.Millineum Force is better than 6 flags Superman. You wont regret it,have to get back and try ``Maverick``

Starring Sarah Palin!

I would still put Busch Gardens 1st as far as best Coaster park in Florida. With Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit,Universal and IOA will definitely be catching up.Sea World will only have 2 coasters when Manta opens and in my opinion Kraken is the best overall coaster in Florida.I'm a little hesitant about Manta as the only flying coaster I've ridden was Superman Ultimate Flight in Six Flags in Atlanta and I've realized I'm a bit claustrophobic about my legs being held in the same position for too long and as both of these coasters are Bolliger and Mabillards I assume they will use the same leg restraints and although I'll ride anything they come up with,500,800 footers I've realized I might have an issue riding this one too much.I've done the 1,000 plus mile drive to Cedar Point 3 times and they were definitely worth it,however you definitely need to avoid the peak of the season as lines do get out of control in mid summer, two times I've been in late May early June and lines were great but line in July were awful.

Choose your thrill!!!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I've got to get there on one of our trips, we've been to the one in Williamsburg a few times. Maybe during our May trip we'll drive over there on either a Tuesday or a Wednesday?
I just get addicted when I get to Uni, that I don't get around to leaving ;)

Don't pass MAVERICK--great ride--not smooth and big and graceful like Millenium, but fast, kind of bumpy, and jerky (in a good way) like a miniature Magnum of steroids that didn't work quite right. It's got aggressive airtime, great direction-changes, an awesome launch, and a downright SWEET front-of-the-car nighttime ride

P.S. The first beyond-vertical drop is to die for!:scared1:

I'm going to Universal Orlando around New Years and I can't wait. The best roller coaster ride that I have been on has to be Mr. Freeze at Six Flags St. Louis followed closely by Rock'n Roller Coaster, BATMAN The Ride (Saint Louis), Space Mountain, and Screaming Eagle (Saint Louis). I hope HULK, DD, and Mummy beat them!

Screaming Eagle is a classic! My first coaster!!!!

if you are going to IOA, check out the hulk and dueling dragons

great thrills for coaster fans

I love the theme and ideas behind the Rockit ride but I feel like there needs to be something "more" to the design of it. There is really only 1 loop/twist and 2 drops. It feels like there is something missing or maybe I was expecting too much from Universal this time around! :(

I am aware that NoLimits Simulator does make rides seem slower then what they really are. Can't wait to ride this in the near future!!!

another st louis homie???
:goodvibes

even when i moved away, i would take my kids and go back to midwest six flags.

you are so right on when you talk about Mr Freeze!
we did it 6 times in a row without getting off.
no crowd day and the employee didn't have a problem with us staying on that ride.
the Eagle also a top notch ride.
i think i would put that as #1 for me.

the Hulk ride is not as long as the st louis coasters but still, you will really enjoy it! ditto for the Mummy.....you might like that one best
dueling dragons will thrill you ...........

i like the list you made up for top coaster rides.
i bet some of the universal rides will appear on your list after your vacation there.

I was born in Saint Louis (Lake Saint Louis to be exact) and raised there until I was 10 or so. I go back there every year and hit Six Flags St. Louis. Mr.Freeze never gets old! The Boss is an insane wooden coaster as well!

Nice to see a st.louis native on these forums.
