I am coming for one day in November with my teenage son. We are looking for the best area park for thrill rides and roller coasters? Any suggestions? Are US and IOA way better than anything at WDW for these rides? Thanks

IOA!!!!:thumbsup2

Two (or Three) super rollercoasters with The Hulk and Dueling Dragons. I indicated possibly three because Dueling Dragons has 2 seperate tracks that interact with each other and could (should) be considered as 2 rollercoasters.

Three awesome water rides: Popeye & Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges, a circular raft ride through white-water rapids that will get you drenched; Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls, a fantastic log ride; and Jurassic Park River Adventure, a boat tour past dinosaurs.

IOA has several other thrill rides such as my favorite, The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man; as well as Doctor Doom's Fearfall and The Cat In The Hat.

In a word: Yes!
Although I enjoy WDW's rides, they have nothing that resembles a "real" roller coaster. Granted, I am a thrill ride junkie, but I consider things like Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, and even Everest as kiddie coasters. They're fun but don't even bring out a drop of adrenaline in me.

Now Hulk...that's a REAL roller coaster. You'll love its unique element of shooting you off the lift hill and right into a spin. Dueling Dragons are good as far as suspended coasters go, and over at USF Mummy is truly the best coaster/dark ride combo I've ridden. Amazingly, you can get some really good airtime on that ride.

Men in Black is so much cooler than the Disney offerings too. It's not a thrill ride, but I love it. It's better than Buzz because the guns are not fixed in place. I love it much more than Toy Story Mania too because when you come right down to it, all the TMS games are the same...shoot at various objects. Plus it's virtual reality...if I want that, I can stay home. MiB immerses you into a real environment.

Y'all would probably like Terminator too. Even tho' it's not a thrill ride, it's a 3-D show that combines live elements and kicks the butt off anything over at WDW even tho' it's much older than their latest offering (Philharmagic).

You could check out Busch Gardens they have some great thrill rides... I havent been in like 10 years so I cant rly comment how they are now. I rly like MGM for Disney. When I was a teenager it was my favorite park and still is up there today. RnR is a great ride and I actually rly did enjoy the new Toy Story ride. Plus ToT is probably one of my fav rides ever.

Universal though is great since you only have 1 day it may be difficult to get a lot done at both parks. The hulk is probably my fav coaster in the 2 parks. I was disapointed when I first went on but it has been getting better and better each time I ride. Dr Doom is no ToT but that first launch is pretty awesome.

If its in your budget I would get the FOTL pass to be able to get as much done as possible with only 1 day. Don't miss Terminator imo if you go though it is a great show and its a must do each time I go.

Have a great time whatever you decide.

Don't forget The Mummy in US, it's part coaster part simulator. Really cool!

That's why I love IOA/US
The Mummy is one of my absolute favorites
and The Hulk:love: and Dueling Dragons
and the new one that's being built... aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!
I can't wait for that one!

Ah yes...the HR3 (as I call it) should be absolutely wicked!

Simulator? I think you might have it mixed up with Spidey. Mummy is a roller coaster/dark ride combo. Nothing simulated about it!

I've only been once so that's entirely possible lol but I thought it had a movie portion to it like Spidey? Just don't tell my 10 year old, he isn't a fan of most coasters but will ride some. I'm hoping this is the some! Now I'm even more anxious to go back!

I'll never tell, hee hee! They use screens in a couple of spots but not really as virtual reality (well, the scarab beetles might qualify). Most of the effects are audioanimatronic., plus Universal does love their propane...that's all I'm gonna say about that so as not to spoil it for Mummy virgins!

Oh, and look on the lefthand side in the first room to see if you can catch the tribute to Kong (which formerly occupied that building) out of the corner of your eye before it's blocked from view.

According to DD (17) and DS (15) who are thrill ride Junkies, their favorites, in order, are:

1. Busch Gardens

2. Islands of Adventure

3. Universal Studios

Darcy03231's kids nailed it.

Disney only has 1 ride,Rock n' Roller Coaster. The rest are animated kiddie rides.

35 mph is barely faster that the rides at a county fair.

Choose your thrill!!!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Forget Florida coasters! Go to Cedar Point next summer! 17 roller coasters! Four of them have been the tallest coasters in the world at some point in time. One of them right now is only about fifteen feet short of the record and like 5 miles per hour slower than the fastest (Top Thrill Dragster) Best roller coasters I've ever been on!

If you've got to stick to Florida though, I'd say IOA. It's my home park:lmao: But The Hulk is one of my favorite rides and Dueling Dragons isn't too shabby either:laughing: Busch Gardens is one I haven't visited as much, but their coasters (while their are more) pale in comparison to IOA's. Kumba has no launch and Montu has no dueling, so their IOA counterparts are better. However, in addition to those less-superior rides, Busch Gardens has Gwazi (an average wooden dueling wooden roller coaster) Scorpion (a mild looping ride, pretty fun, not too extreme) Cheetah Chase (a kind of fruity wild mouse) and Sheikra (awesome vertical drop ride, but very short). Also, Busch's only very-neat thrill ride is Rhino Rally safari-jeep ride, while IOA has Dr. Doom, Spider-Man (:3dglasses  ) high-class shows, well-themed water rides, etc.

Quantity= Busch Gardens
Quality=IOA

Cedar Point has been on my to do list before I die :goodvibes
I am a huge coaster junkie, and I am waiting for both of my boys to be old
enough to enjoy it with me. But mark my word, I will be there one day! :thumbsup2

Ah....Cedar Point....one of the few things I miss now that I live in FL. Even tho' we lived in Chicago before, we still had CP season passes and always drove down there a few times a year. Magnum is my number one coaster of all time. The airtime in that bowtie element is priceless.
