So how'd this trip come about you ask? Well, COMIC CON in San Diego has been our "go to" trip for the last several years... but unfortunately we couldn't get tickets. Boo. After collectively pouting about it, we realized we needed a fun diversion. FUN DIVERSION = DISNEYLAND!!! Yay!!! (No complaints here!)

Next up... Our first day!!!

Disneyland is a about a 7 hour drive from our home in AZ. We planned on leaving as early as possible but you know what they say about best laid plans. We were supposed to pick up our rental van at 8am, yep no van. They offered us a full size but that would've been a REALLY tight fit. The agent told us to come back in a few hours, which was a bummer. While we were havinng van drama, Trim was breaking his glasses. Luckily he found a one hour place that was open!
We finally picked up the van, Trim got his new glasses, and we were on our way... to Mcdonalds :rolleyes1. What? we were all starving, and we made it for breakfast... so scorsies!

I apologize ahead of time, I don't have any pictures for this segment. I hadn't discovered the DIS board yet so I didn't think to take any. oops. Next time I'll totally be prepared.

We were finally on our way at about 11. Eh not terrible. We made pretty good time, despite the gas stops, treat stops, and bathroom breaks. And we made into SoCal just in time for... TRAFFIC!!!!! Ugh. When we finally made it to our hote,l we were all tired and hungry. But we were in Anaheim!!!!!!
We did some unpacking, got ourselves cleaned up, and headed up the street to eat at The Outback. This Outback has a meal we don't have in Tucson, and we are all completely obsessed with it! So 5 orders of Tassies chicken later, we were ready for our next adventure... Target. Our hotel had approximately 2 outlets so we had to buy some cheap power cords. And a Target run wouldn't be complete without a few other needless random purchases.

Our last stop of night was Downtown Disney! We were so close I could almost touch Disneyland! We walked around and looked in some shops but we were all ready for some sleep, besides we had to be up early the next day... cause we were going to DISNEYLAND!!!

Oh... this poor trip report. I started it with the best of intentions. I really did. Would it be weird if I finished it? Probably... but I'm going to do it anyway ;). It has been nearly 2 years but I have my trusty trip notebook, so here we go!

We stayed at the Super 8 on Katella. What can I say about this motel. Hmm... it was cheap. Parking was included, they made us park in the fire lane the first night, but it was free. Luckily, we found a spot the next morning, but they had cars parked behind other cars, cars blocking the fire lane, even cars on the side walk. It was a mess! Overall, it wasn't terrible but it wasn't great. I'm not sure we'd stay there again.

Now on to our first day at Disneyland!!!! :dance3:

I barely slept that night. Probably due to sharing a very warm motel room with 5 people mixed with a crazy amount of Disney excitement. By the time the alarm went off at 630 am, I had been up for what felt like hours. Hours I tell you! While we were getting ready, Mary surprised us with the most amazing t-shirts ever created.

These are literally the best pictures I could find of the back of the shirt. I have no idea why I didn't think to take a picture of it? Our group of friends uses "Best Pals" instead of "cheers". Yep, probably one of the nerdiest things of all times, but that's how we roll. So I loved that she put it on the shirt. These shirts were so much fun! People stopped us all day to tell us how awesome they were! We felt like stars. Kidding. Kind of.

We quickly changed into our fancy new shirts and we headed out! Next up... Disneyland!!!!!!!

We made it through the gates with almost no wait. And quickly made our way to the train. It is traditionally our first ride in the park. We rode it towards Adventure Land, and from there headed to The Haunted Mansion. There was zero wait, so we rode, got off, walked back around to the front, and got immediately back on. Such an amazing way to start the day! We got some fast passes to Splash. Then hit up Pirates, Big thunder, and Winnie the Pooh. I love the Winnie the Pooh ride. I just think it's so adorable. Then it was time for Splash. It was starting to get pretty warm, so it was definitely a nice cool down.

So just a note about our touring style. We didn't follow one. I know it sounds crazy. But we go to DL fairly often so we just kind of meandered around and enjoyed the park. We got really lucky that the park wasn't really crowded that day so we fit pretty much everything in.

Next up, Lunch at the Ranch!

No, those guys weren't on the menu! I love eating here! Love, love, love it!!!!! The food is tasty and the entertainment is so silly. It was a perfect afternoon break. After gorging ourselves on ribs, beans, and corn bread (the glorious corn bread!) we stopped and chatted with the animals.

Next up, we headed towards Fantasy Land!!!

Over in Fantasy Land, we quickly hit up Alice, Peter Pan, and Mr. Toads. Then we took turns trying to pull that darned sword out of the stone.

No luck... Maybe next time.

We then decided to head across the way to Cali Adventures! Toy Story was calling my name!

We finally figured out why DL was so empty... everybody and I mean EVERYBODY was in line for Toy Story. The wait time said 45 minutes, and that seemed fairly reasonable and we decided to wait. For awhile we enjoyed the line and took some pics... but it was getting really hot. And we were at the place in line with no shade. I wasn't feeling very well but thought we'd be under cover soon enough. So I didn't say anything. But the line wasn't moving. Chad asked if I was okay because my face was so red and he was afraid I was having a heat stroke and wanted us to get out of line. Unfortunately, I am a child, and I refused. We had already been waiting for so long. I was staying put!!!
Welp, about 5 minutes later when we still hadn't moved, I realized I was probably maybe going to be sick. Chad and I left the group to find shade and cold water. Chad was scared I was going to pass out! I was scared I was going to pass out. But the water, shade, and wet paper towels on the face did the trick and I felt better after awhile. Once my face returned to a lighter shade of pink, we returned to the ride to wait for our friends to get off. But... they were still in line! Outside! We had been gone almost an hour! Wait... What?!?!
I don't know what was going on but they were loading this ride soooo slowly. The CM at the front of the line recognized us and told us to rejoin our friends. I felt bad, but he was really nice about it. So we did. We did get some looks towards the back of the line, but the people around our group were really cool with us rejoining our pack. I thanked everyone around us for being so nice about it. We took some more pics.

After 2 hours and 15 minutes we made it on the ride!!!!!! And it was fun! I don't know if it was worth the heat sickness but it was good times.

Lesson... Don't mess with the heat!!! I am a very fair person living in the desert. You'd think I'd know better. :confused3

Next up, we rode the coaster and TOT and then headed back to DL. I forgot to mention that we had gotten Space Mountain fast passes earlier in the day, so we had a space flight to get to!

We then hit up Buzz and Star Tours. We then headed towards the Matterhorn. It was closing the very next day for a long refurb so we were excited to ride it for the last time.

Then we just wandered around Fantasy Land.

We stopped for some churros :cheer2::goodvibes and enjoyed the beautiful night. Our last ride of the night was also our second longest wait time. What was you ask? Space mountain or maybe Dumbo? Nope, the Story Book ride. Yes, the Story Book ride. I do love that ride but I wasn't excited to wait for 45 minutes.

After that we slowly made our way towards the entrance. We stopped and got ice cream sundaes and ate them while watching the fireworks on Main Street. A beautiful ending to an almost perfect day!!!

Next up, Day 2!!!! If today was almost perfect... how would tomorrow go? Dun dun dun!!!!
