Going to WDW in a few weeks and I want to take some great shots like you guys do here on this Board. I have a Nikon P530 which allows me to play with shutter speed and aperture settings. I love your night photos, but I am not going to take a tripod. I am looking for suggestions on your favorite places to take photos at the World - all the parks. I get up early so early am pictures are possible.

I love my sunrise photos from WL...

...and the "quiet areas" in EPCOT...the English gardens, Japan, China; the Epcot area resorts...Streets of America. Can you tell I have a lot of favorites? :rotfl: :tink:

I think it really depends on what captures the photographer's imagination. It might be landscapes or architecture or macros or people...

Every now and then, I see great pictures of the Mickey (and Walt) statue infront of the castle...and my attempts are always blah. Just because a location is great for one photographer, doesn't mean it's great for everyone.

I'm drawn to landscapes with some interesting clouds in the sky, especially if I can also capture their reflection in water so I like anywhere that I have a view across water. (EPCOT is great for that, both World Showcase and Future World with the monorail ;) ) and Seven Seas/ Bay lake as seen above. (And for sunrise/sunset you play around more with shutter speed and aperture so you don't blow out highlights)

You could also play around with Macro photography. Instead of just holding the camera a few inches from a flower, stand a few feet back and use your zoom for more background de focus.

My favorite shots at Disney are after hours and going with long exposures. You can use a mini tripod or a near by trash can too.

I'm not sure I'd ever be able to duplicate this, or if it's even very Disney, but it's one of my favorite shots.

It was in Animal Kingdom in 2008.

Great question OP. I was hoping you'd get more of the WDW regulars to respond with some of their favorite spots in MK... it's difficult to get a good vantage point with so many people moving around.

I have looked at lots of great pictures on this board and have made a list of some. I found last fall that I got great shots from the Liberty Belle, and I read somewhere to take the walkway from New Fantasyland to Tomorrowland. In Epcot I want to take photos of the Flower & Garden festival. AK - I guess I have to go with what the animals want!

I rarely like my pics of the castle from Main St. because there are so many people. I usually take my castle shots while standing in front of Crystal Palace. It's a little quieter and you can get some grass in the foreground. Not sure how construction will affect this view now:

Construction walls are gone there. It is now one of the 2 new Wishes FP+ viewing areas. So you can get your shot, but now without the reflection I believe.

I snagged an early entry for the BOG breakfast just to get in to take pictures of Main Street and the castle without the hoards of people. Any suggestions as to where to best position myself? We don't know yet what "route" we will be allowed to follow to BOG.

Love this thread! I spend so much time taking pictures of the kids, I need to focus more on the surroundings.

I do the early morning breakfast @ CP every trip (Great buffet w/Pooh characters)and the lands forking out from the "Hub" are roped off. I assume you'd be going straight up to the castle.....it is not blocked off. You should be able to get few or no one in your shots, especially beyond the castle.
BTW...I also make sure it is not on an EMH day!!!!!!

Check out a few of my shots...If you look at the last pic, the yellow garbage can near & to the left side of the carosel you will see the rope...stopping those from going further.....so....I think you'll be going that way!!!!
Have a "Magical" vacation!! :flower1:

Try this. Assuming you can do it with your camera. You will need a tripod. Pick the longest shutter speed you can. Moving objects will appear to disappear. It may/may not work. Works easier in darker situations. The aperture can be reduced so far. My cameras is only f16. Exposure is the problem. I haven't tried it in bright light.
I've seen some night shots of main street that didn't have people when in fact there where.

This can be accomplished with ND filters, but larger crowds at disney make it harder to do, plus you need a tripod.
