We usually stay at HRH, but it is sold out and also has a minimum stay and we are only there for 3 nights. Any suggestions? Shuttle service to/from Universal and WDW are a must!

Hyatt Place is quite close and nice. I don't think anything that close to Universal is going to offer shuttles to WDW though. You'd have to pick something more central for that option.

Hyatt Place has a shuttle -- it leaves twice in the morning, and returns twice in the evening to/from US/IOA.

They also do a shuttle to Disney, but I believe you have to pay for that and/or reserve it. Don't remember how it worked because I never used it, though.

Can you easily walk to IoA from Hyatt Place? I'm not concerned about the distance because it looks really close and their site says it's a quarter mile away. I'm just wondering if there are crosswalks/lights and such to let us get there safely without dodging traffic alongside a major highway. Thanks for any info!

It's a large main street you're crossing, but there is a crosswalk/traffic light/pedestrian signals, the whole thing.

When you walk over to IOA, do you go up to the main street of Major Blvd? Or is there a shortcut behind the Hyatt to the parking garages of Universal which means jay-walking on Kirkland? I'm trying to figure out if .25 mile is road to road walking distance or is .25 mile point to point like a crow flying?
