Please help! I can get to MCO for $44 each way from either PVD or MHT. I've convinced my DH that we need to make a trip. My DSs are 12 and 10 and won't be young forever! Now I need some help finding a great place with great amenities, great pool, water features, etc. (therefore cutting down on the days in the parks also).

Can anyone give me some ideas? Also, anyone have any suggestions for activities in and around the area that can be done cheaply?

Thanks!

$100 to $150/night? Townhome at Windsor Hills or other off-site property.

Try windsorhillsrent.com or vrbo.com

US/IOA has reasonable multiday passes and there's the Orlando flex-ticket. You can also clip coupons from the tourist guides and do a whole day very cheaply at the smaller stand alone Kissimmee attractions. Five of us spent maybe $50 one night and played two different mini-golf places and rode go carts for about a half hour.

Too funny! We also did got the Ding Fare...but out of Hartford in June. We were just there in Feb. for 12 days, but this time I'm heading back with just my mom and my 3 kids...dh has to work.

We are staying at Regal Palms Resort. It is quite a bit further from the parks, but the pool area is awesome and we spend a couple days just hanging out there. You can do a google search for regal palms orlando to see pictures. We are paying $690 for 10 days in a 4 bedroom townhouse. You can book either through their website, hotelkingdom, or preferably a private owner. You can also see reviews on tripadvisor.com.

Hope this helps you or gives you another idea.

We stayed at Regal Palms a few years ago while it was still somewhat under construction. It was very nice for the price, and as we spent time at both Sea World and BG the location wasn't an issue at all. The units were clean, spacious and reasonably furnished. There is a nce little shopping plaza very close as well, with Grocery, Pizza, and Chinese as I remember.

You might not like this, but Pop or another value is my best suggestion. Why? Because to stay off property, you'll need a rental car. The cost of a rental car will likely offset much of your savings.

Second, look at Disney's pricing structure. If you are going to do Disney for at least three days, then adding extra days is about the least expensive thing you can do in Orlando.

WE've done many of the "other" things in Orlando over the years. We've always come away saying, "We spent HOW much doing this?!?!? When we could have just stayed at WDW." Though I have yet to go to the pretty botanical gardens in Orlando - they always seemed too far away - on the north side of the city. EVerything else just seems a little lame- Sea World, Universal are about the best, and They're not cheap. Though if you are skipping WDW altogther you could go Universal for an entire week on the cheap.

There are a few inexpensive things to do on-property:swimming, resort exploring, monorail riding, DTD, seeinga movie.

To save money consider AP rates, maybe DDP. Even eating off property might not save all that much money (unless you research where you are going to eat). Eating breakfast in the room will save money. Bring a box of cereal, a few non-perishable snacks - get some milk and oj.

Last fall we stayed at the Vistana at a great rate. It is off-property, but very close. IT was very clean and HUGE. I was able to get it well within your price range. No great water park, but it was a nice pool. Full kitchen.
(too cold to really swim while we were there though).

We also stayed at AKL for the second half of the trip, and we all agreed that staying on-property is the way to go for our family. It was just so much easier.

I don't know rates, but if you want off property with a cool pool look at the Nick Suites and Caribe Royale. Both have awesome pools.

We just came back from Bonnet Creek and paid $700 for 5 nights for a two bedroom with full kitchen and washer and dryer. It is also rated number 1 on tripadvisor.com They called us 3 or 4 times to ask us to talk about buying a timeshare but we just said no thanks or didn't answer the phone. It is a new place just around the corner from Typhoon Lagoon. We bought the 5 nights on ebay. The person we bought from has a very high score on ebay and reputable. He has been selling timeshare points a while.

I'd love to hear more about Bonnet Creek. Can you tell me on ebay who you rented from?

We bought ours from cybergetaways. They have other weeks or nights for sale. Just check the feedback and how long someone has been selling to see if they have a good record.

Going out of MHT on July 23 and returning on July 31st. I just checked and there are still $44 fares available.
