Wasn’t sure what to title this question. My 60 day window is almost here and I’m trying to figure out the best way to book everything. My parents are going to join us, but they aren’t sure yet if they want to come for the full week or not. They also aren’t sure they want to do all meals with us. They’re very much plan last minute go with no plan type people.

Should I make all our reservations for 6 people? Will I have issues if they decide not to go to a certain meal and we show up with 4?

Book for everyone who might be there. That's what I did with my mom and step dad. It's not a big deal to show up with fewer than reserved, the only one I'd try to avoid that with is CRT and HDDR as I think those are both prepaid.

Absolutely. If you book for 4 and need to add 2 there is no guarantee that you'll be able to.

Nope. As a solo, I pretty regularly book for 2 and show up with 1 and there is never a problem. Though if you know in advance they aren't going to be joining you, you could modify down to 4 which would free up the larger table for a larger party.

Thanks! We are doing CRT but I told them that requires payment upfront so they agreed to come to that meal for sure.

Thanks! I’m such a planner so it drives me crazy they are the opposite lol. They unfortunately could change their mind either way right before so could all be very last minute

It's definitely not a problem to show up with fewer people. The issue comes when you book for fewer and have more show up - especially since 4 to 6 would require a larger table. Yes, if it's a last minute drop you might still be at a 6-top, that was already reserved. If you're booked for 4 they most likely have you assigned to a 4-top so they'd have to rearrange and/or make someone wait longer to move you to a 6-top.
