Best non-fish dish at Coral Reef?

For our mother / daughter trip in January, my mom would really like to eat at Coral Reef for dinner. I've not been there before, but I'm looking forward to the atmosphere! However, looking at the menu, I'm not sure what I'm going to like... I'm just not a fish fan (though I like other seafood, like shrimp) and it seems like MOST of the menu is fish. I like steak (is it good there?). I LOVE mushrooms, but have read that the mushroom dish was not good (has it changed? used to be mushroom lasgna, but now mushroom in phyllo crisp?) The scallops sound good, but I'm not a fan of tomato sauce, and the pics I've seen look like this is on it.

Suggestions?

Thanks!!

We've had both the chicken and the pork at the Coral Reef and they were both very good. The best part of the meal is the dessert, don't miss the chocolate cake!!1

We are not fish eaters either, but wanted to go to Coral Reef for the atmosphere. Both my hubby and I really enjoyed the steak when we were there in August.

DH and I went for our anniversary and we too aren't fish eaters. I got the chicken and he ordered the Steak... I must say I was impressed, I liked them both but his steak was better! It's a great atmosphere as well!

The steak is good as is the lobster ravioli. I've heard that the chicken is also quite tasty but haven't tried this myself. I'm in the same boat as you...hate fish but I do like seafood.

According to the menus on allears.net, it's a smokey tomato broth. If you're interested in the scallops, try asking for the broth on the side or you could ask them to hold it completely. Disney restaurants are usually great about accommodating their patrons for things like that.

We dined at Coral Reef for lunch on our trip their several weeks ago. Had the steak and it was delicious...better than I had the rest of the trip and we dined at several signature restaurants. Very tasty and tender...

The Chicken was really good, one of the best things I ate the whole week we were in WDW. My DH had the pork and he really liked that too.

The steak there is one of the best I've ever had! The marinade on it is so delectable, YUM!!!

I have to agree about the NY strip there; it was truly delish. As was the Chocolate Wave ... best dessert of our trip. I just hope you get a better view than we did. We were seated at a table on the next-to-highest level, against the far wall. DH and I had to turn around in our chairs if we wanted to see what we could of the acquarium. Good luck!

Thanks everyone! Great pictures!

Sounds like I'm leaning towards the steak then!

Does anyone know if you can request (and wait for) a table near the aquarium?

3 of 4 in our family don't eat fish but we love Coral Reef. The chicken dish is great. We get it with mashed potatoes instead of the spaetzle. You can always ask for sauce on side (any restaurant). Sub mashed or baked potato most places, not the Wave however, don't understand that but... NY strip is good but not for the price. You don't get the portion you might get at say LeCellier for about the same $$. Gonna be in Disney Nov. 9 and Coral Reef is our 1st reservation.

Request it when you check in. They can't guarantee it, but if you're willing to wait a little longer for it, they can usually get you pretty close. ;)

I have to agree with everyone else, the chicken and the steak are both very good here. We liked the chicken so much we make a mock "Coral Reef Chicken" here. It isn't quite the same but close enough. I can't wait to go back.

I've enjoyed the steak and pork. In fact, the steak was better than the one I got at Le Cellier and Rose & Crown that week.

The mushroom dish is still mushroom lasagna, though it doesn't look like a typical lasagna. It's not phyllo, but it does resemble a "phyllo purse"-type of dish. The lasgna noodles are wrapped up around the filling, and baked. It is very tasty!
