best mosquito repellent??

I need to send my daughter some mosquito repellent...what have you found to be the best? She's in Tampa..and said that her children are being eaten alive by them...she used Avon's skin so soft..and that worked pretty well, but is there something else out there that would be better? Or should I just send her more of that?

If she doesn't want to use something with DEET in it, oil of lemon eucalyptus is what we use and it works great!

You can find it in camping sections of stores such as Wal-Mart.

I used to use SSS, but since it's oil it makes you sunburn much too easily. For the past several years I've been using Avon's Bug Guard http://shop.avon.com/shop/product_list.aspx?level1_id=300&level2_id=303&pdept_id=365&cat_type=C for our family. We live in NJ and the mosquitoes can be horrible, especially at the shore. It's DEET-free (I'm allergic to DEET, so I had to find an alternative) and it works great. They're having a buy 1 get one for $.99 special right now, too!

Also, I read somewhere to eat garlic or take a garlic supplement. Mosquitos don't like it in your blood stream. I have not tried it so who knows??????

I like the skin so soft body oil in a gel. Like a pp said, it may cause them to burn too easily tho. I've never found anything that will keep them away like sss though. My dd will be ate up while the rest of us aren't touched. I soak her in it in the warmer months here and not a single bite.

dryer sheets cheap ones

rub them on your skin and the bugs will stay away

my stepdad actually puts on on the back of his cap when he's working in the yard

We use Badger Balm's bug repellent on dd... not as many chemicals, easy to apply (it's a stick) and works well.

I read somewhere that listerine mixed with water not only repels misquitoes but bees as well. Not sure if it is true but you never know. I read the same for Bounce dryer sheets. They work for my family with all sorts of bugs
