Best masks for parks? Looking for something breathable - not too hot (if that's possible)

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

the new masks that the Disney store are great. At first when it came out it was thick. They have new ones now that are advertise more breathable and they are. They have marvel ones if you don’t want to wear a Disney mask at universal.

I’ve tried pretty much every type of mask. I wear a cloth mask bebopping around at home but find the disposables much more comfortable in the park.

My husband has a large head and has to use extenders with disposables.

The new Disney ones are really good. I also found some nice thin Marvel ones at Target in Kissimmee. I'm a hater of all things "mask" so I know! lol

I have yet to find any cloth ones that i like, so we are planning on disposables for our end of January trip :) But I may try a disney one as they are cute :)

We purchased some fabulous black disposable masks from Amazon that are SO comfy. My DH has a huge head (that even sounds awkward as I type this, but hey, its true LOL) so we have yet to find cloth ones that fit him comfortably. The disposables from Amazon (we purchased not only the black ones, but also Halloween print for our October trip and Christmas print for our December trip) and were very happy with their fit and comfort. Our ears were happy all week, and the face coverage was awesome.

Honestly, the Universal ones are my absolute favorite! I bought a bunch last time I was there and so far they're holding up nicely here at home after several washings... they're super soft and breathable, IMO.

We found the Old Navy ones to be really comfortable. They're soft, and kind of loose fitting.

Seems as though I’ve spent the budget of a small nation while trying to find the perfect mask. Chasing windmills :)

Fortunate to have friends who gifted me with many cute print ones. Other than a N95, that sort probably works the best, especially if you couple them with a clear face shield. they do get quite warm though.

We struggled with our masks in the hot & humid Orlando temps last fall. Disposable ones seemed ‘coolest’, although they did get damp, quickly. If using them it’s a good idea to plan on replacing at least twice per day. Not worth reusing IMO

I have both versions. First ones felt as though wearing plastic wrap on face. Ill designed, even after the suggested cracking the ear loops hack, it was a tight fit for us all, including children.

2nd ones are a marked improvement. Appreciate the Star War/Mandolorian prints. I want to like them, just find it very odd that the material is some sort of polyester that doesn’t wick moisture very well. Haven’t dissected them lol but they don’t appear to be 3 ply, might be style over substance thing going on there.

Has me wondering if they are effective as the disposables. would like to think that disney ( which has such strict regulations re masks including forbidding even multi layered gaiters) has done the science on them :confused3

Family picked those up, they do seem oversized with more ‘nose room’. After wearing for some time, substantial gaps appear above the nose & on the sides Strikes me as a bit self-defeating to keep touching the masks/face to adjust them.

Generally, now go with disposable ones and toss after wearing when out & about, especially as so cheap online (amazon, ebay but read the reviews).

I’ve settled upon cloth masks (with the metal nose adjuster) for longer wear but, have retrofitted them with the elastic ear loops that adjust by sliding a widget on the end. So much more comfortable with that customized fit.

I found the Old Navy ones pretty comfy and they have adjustable ear loops. Also like the UO ones.

THANKS Everyone! I ordered some disposable masks. And the bamboo cloth masks. I have old navy and I loved them until I tried to wear one all day on Christmas. The cloth part is too big for my face and kept creeping up to under my eyes no matter how I adjusted the ear loops!

I also ordered some mask brackets that should help the mask hold its structure and away from my mouth! LOL

I'm going next week -- I'll check in with what worked best!

Looks like I may be too late with this suggestion, but my favorites are from Vida. Others I have tried either made me feel like I couldn't breathe or they hit my eyelashes and drove me crazy. These come with filters which I use when I do things like get a haircut. (shopvida.com)

The disposable ones are the most breathable and probably the cleanest since they can be switched out. For me, the elastic ear loops on the disposable ones hurt my ears so they are not comfortable to wear all day. I have some cloth ones that are similar to the ones sold at Disney that I like, but by the end of the trip, my face was horribly broken out from the cloth mask that had rubbed on my face in sweat, humidity moisture, dirt, etc. I did wash the mask in the sink each night, but it would have been better to have a new one for each day I think.

I went to WDW in August and I did not break out with "maskne," I think because I had a system that may have been overkill. :rotfl: I did, however, get eaten alive by no-see-ums at Vero, so don't get too jealous. :)

I packed disposable face cleansing clothes, Tide sink packets, a portable mesh drying rack, and 2 gallon ziplock bags.

At each meal, when I took my mask off, I'd wipe my face with the cleansing cloth. I'd put the dirty mask in the ziplock bags labeled "dirty." After eating, I'd get a fresh mask from the "clean" mask bag. Yes, this meant going through 3-4 masks a day. The masks would be damp by the meal though, putting it back on after eating would feel so gross. :scared:

I would wash the masks and then hang them to dry. I packed enough masks that I didn't need to do this daily.

My favorite brand is a small business called Park Candy. They have a lot of Disney-inspired designs. Their masks are a nice fabric, have the ear adjustment widgets, and the metal nose piece. They ship quickly as long as it's not a pre-order, and I haven't had to pay shipping even if I bought just one at a time.

The Universal masks are really nice and breathable if you cut out the back lining. It's a nice soft lining so I felt bad doing it, but it creates a great lightweight mask.

You were prepared! Good for you! It’s a good plan. I’m very picky about masks and can’t to disposable ones because the elastic bands hurt my ears after a short time. I need to be comfortable in the mask which means re-using my “favorite” ones. So I paid the price for it!
