Not sure if we're going to go to any of them, but if we do, we'll only pick one.

So which is your choice- Tony's, Mama Melrose's, or the one at Epcot?

Mama Melrose is our must do meal of every trip. We love it.

Alfredos Ive been to a few times over the past 20 years and I always enjoy it. We don't go often, but just because it doesnt usually work out with our schedule. I did however do the CP Package there last year and we will do it there again this year.

Tonys we went to once and will not be going back.

Another option if you are looking for a more upscale Italian restaurant is Palio in the Swan. I had a very enjoyable meal there a couple years ago.

For Mama's we've always had good food and service. :goodvibes :wave2:

The best Italian we've had at WDW is Palio. It was excellent and the service was perfect. Among the three you mentioned, I'd have a hard time deciding. Tony's was okay, but not really special enough. Mama Melrose had great food and pretty medicore service. Alfredo's has had such consistently bad reviews that it remains the only WDW full-service restaurant that we've never eaten at.

I'm going to try MM with the Fantasmic Package during the free dining promotion; however, my expectations are low.

I lived on Long Island most of my life and worked in Manhattan. One thing I've learned is that there's no such thing as good Italian, Chinese, or Mexican food outside of NY. People who have never lived in NY have given me pointers on the "must try" restaurants for great pizza and Italian food. Most are borderline inedible, but it tastes good to the these people since they have no basis for comparison.

Yeah, New Yorkers are pretty arrogant that way. What I found, when I recovered from being one, is that there is great food outside of New York. Great Italian food in Boston. Great Chinese food in San Francisco. Great Mexican food everywhere from San Diego to Austin.

Been to all of the ABOVE mentioned, hands down....PALIO at the Swan!! ;)

I defy anyone to top that statement for both ignrance and arrogance at the same time.

I have not been at Palio's lately, it was like two years back and I thought it was ok.

I have eaten at Alfredo's lately for dinner and thought it was excellent...attentive service, good food, and fun entertainment.

We ate at Alfredo's last Christmas and really enjoyed it. It had been several years since we ate there and we did not like it in the past. It was nice to see that it had improved since our earlier visits.

Of those the only one we have ate at is Mama Melrose.

We highly recommend this restaurant for all ages. You would be quite comfortable there with the ages of your children.

The chicken parm is wonderful and my DS loves their pizza.

We will be trying Alfredo's on our next trip as we have booked it for Mother's Day.

Enjoy!

We have only been to Tony's. We really enjoyed it and thought the food was good.

We are trying MaMa Melrose Fantasmic package this year. :goodvibes

Portobello Yacht Club at DtD! We really enjoy it and usually go when we are at WDW :sunny:

me too (lived on long island *all* of my life, and worked in your holy grail of the restaurant world/aka manhattan ;) ) and have been blessed to find good food of all nationalities in my travels... had amazing mediteranean food last weekend in vegas of all places... who'd a thunk? :rotfl:

that being said, we were quite pleased w/the food at MM... although we did not do the FDP so we had the whole menu to chose from :cloud9:

formernyer... just curious... where on long island did you live? i grew up in the five towns and now live out east...

I lived in West Islip until I was 9, then we moved to Oakdale (Idle Hour on the River) and I lived there until I left for college. We also had a condo out in Baiting Hollow on the North Shore. I went to college in Westchester County, then moved back to LI and got married. We had an apartment in West Babylon for about 9 months, then bought a house in Ronkonkoma. We were there for about 4 years, then moved to Tennessee in 1997. I've been in TN ever since and you couldn't pay me enough to go back to NY. I miss the food terribly (haven't had a good pizza in years) and I miss the beaches, but other than that I'm sooooooo happy to be out of that state!

We have eaten at Palio's, Alfredo's, Tony's and Portobello and Palio wins this one hands down.

I heard Mama Della's at the Portifino Bay was good if you are planning to spend any time at UO.

We ate at Tony's last year and really enjoyed it! Our kids loved the "Lady and the Tamp" atmosphere, and we had great service. The kids' desserts (free with the DP) were enormous - they hardly ate them, but they were fun to look at! Our desserts, on the other hand , were both pretty and delicious - let's just say my husband liked my tiramisu better than his canolis and we had a fight on our hands! :) That is the one place we are repeating during this year's trip.

Another bonus - lots of characters hang out in and near Tony's - we saw Wendy, Pinocchio and Gepetto, and Tigger. (Wendy was inside signing autographs with no line - noone knew she was in there!)
