I want to get my son an iPod touch and I'm trying to find the best deal. I saw Best Buy has them for $285 ($15 savings) this week.

Does anyone know of a better deal?

Thanks

Michelle

I bought two from Toys R Us on Friday for $229 with a $20 a gift card with each. This was the the iPod Touch 5 with the lowest memory which is all my kids need. I was planning to get the 4th generation but couldn't find them anywhere.

Apple.com has the refurbished 5th gen 32GB for $219 back in stock. If you are on the fence about a refurb, buying directly from Apple gives you a full 1 year warranty just like if you bought a new one.

Have you ever purchased any refurbished Apple products? I guess if there is a warranty it should be good.

Do they come in a box? Is it apparent that it is refurbished? I wanted to give it to my son for Christmas?

Thanks for the replies…...

I bought 2 IPod 4's last year from apple. They came in a box. I can't remember if the box had a refurbished mark or not. They looked brand new. My kids have no clue and I have had zero issues with them. I would not hesitate to buy from them again.

We have purchased 2 Ipads, 2 Ipod Touches, and 2 Ipad Minis. No problems with anything. They arrived brand new in box. Everything that we have ordered was packaged just like the things we purchased from Apple before we discovered the refurbished deals.

Also, refurbished items can be purchased through ShopDiscover for additional savings (currently 5% + 5% cashback bonus this quarter). Last Christmas I saved money over buying used from Gamestop plus I got more memory and the 1 year warranty.

Between the 5 of us we have 10 ipods and all but 3 were refurbs purchased directly from Apple. I have never had an issue with any of them, and got my ds a 32GB for Christmas this year. It comes in a white box and I can't remember if it says refurbished or not. The ipod itself looks brand new, I'm pretty sure everything is new except the internal parts.
My ds is 13 and doesn't have a problem with it being a refurb, he is just happy to have a 5th gen one, and I'm happy to save money :thumbsup2

Be careful when buying the lesser expensive models...the 16G one selling for the low $200's does not have a rear facing camera. It has only a front facing camera for use with Facetime or "selfies."

Depending on the age of your child, the camera is a big deal, so double check before you buy, if you want the one with both cameras.

The big difference with the 16 and 32 is the 16 doesn't have a front facing camera which is huge with the kids lol

OK You have sold me on the refurbished Apple IPod touch. I am going to go online today and hopefully they still have some left.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the help.

if you can't get a refurb in time and have a target card, you can get target to price match best buy and then save another 5% with your recard. I would do refurb if i had the option though!

If you're like me, buy refurbished because you'll drop it in a month and have to get it "refurbished" anyhow. :)

Tried to buy the iPod touch on Apple.com today and they were all sold out. Ordered one from BestBuy.com(thanks tgeorge0207) and picked it up from the store this morning.

Came home and saw that they were available on Apple again. :sad2:

I think I'll keep the one from Best Buy this time, but I really appreciate the comments on the quality of the refurbished ones from Apple- I will definitely look there first with future purchases.

Thanks everyone..

My kids can take pictures with their phones. I'm positive that the camera is not that big of a deal for either one.
