Best in and out bathrooms along the marathon course?

"Real marathoners just pee in their pants." ~ Bob Harper to Ada during The Biggest Loser marathon.

:lmao:

Sorry...couldn't resist.

Seriously, I don't know. In races here (they're big...potties are limited) I just try to gauge my bladder fullness and if it's remotely feeling like I might need to go soon and see an empty one, I go then. I figure I'll use the same strategy at Disney.

You'll get a lot of responses but here's mine.

On the left as you go through Frontierland. Seem to be the largest, easy in and out, etc. Use those almost every race but last year - they were closed! In the half I didn't find out until I got to them but for the half I was OK. At least I knew for the full so I stopped at the ones right as you leave Tomorrow land. They are on the left across from the speedway.

It sounds silly but my favorite bathroom stop of all was in AK and I didn't even have to go. It was my first year doing a marathon. It was a warm year and I was hot, tired, achy, etc. It is the first one you hit entering the park. It was empty, cool, dark, etc. just 2 minutes cleaning my glasses and rinsing my face made all the difference in the world.

There are some by TTT and others in AK, EPCOT (early and late) and HS but the 2 above would be my choices. It really depends on when you have to go :).

enjoy,
Duane

There was an excellent thread on that a few years ago. Can't find it now of coures. WIll try to find my print when I get home adn look it up. (One of those times that being a scrapper/hoarder pays off. ;) )

Have a look at Coach Charles' post on the Race Retreat thread. :thumbsup2

Did he really say that? I was half watching that episode so I must have missed that. Wonder if he was referring to that Swedish marathoner a couple of years ago who probably should have stopped for the port-a-potty :rolleyes1

On the flip side, real marathoners finish in 2 to 3 hours. Much easier to avoid pit stops. For those of us who will be out there 5 to 7 hours, that's really hard. Not to mention tha ta 5min stop over 5 hours is not that big of a deal.

I couldn't believe when Bob said that on Biggest Loser - um I guess I must not be a true marathoner because I would never think of just going in my pants.

With that said I have to second the restrooms in Frontierland - hit that one in the 2009 marathon since I tried to use the one in Ticket and Transportation and it was packed. Didn't need to use the potty during the half or the full last year. I try to avoid the porta potties.

Of course for the guys they can just go off into the woods - its so obvious what they are doing - but kind of humerous if you think about it.

I've seen women use the shrubs off to the sides of the road before. Usually they have a lookout with them :)

I've done it before without a lookout when the lines for the porta-potties were 5 people long. That's about as close to a 'real' marathoner as I'm going to get

For me a few come to mind.

1 - Frontierland in the Magic Kingdom. Last year it was closed, but it's a quick in and out and about 10 miles in so I found it a nice place to stop.

2 - Animal Kingdom over near Everest on your left.

3 - In EPCOT just before Norway. It's only a few miles in, but after getting to those corrals by 5 this year and waiting until you actually start you may need to go early.

It might be my speed, but I find the restrooms in Tomorrowland are usually pretty busy and the first one's you come to in the Animal Kingdom are pretty busy. The Port o Johns are hit and miss. Sometimes no line and other times seems like everyone stopped at once. :yay:

Thanks for the stops! Does the full go past that really big bathroom by Lights, Motor, Action?

So avoid TTC... Is the one across from Indy busy? That is kinda small, isn't it?

Wait, we run around WS at the start? I don't have a clue where I'm going! LOL

The ones by Everest... Are you guys talking about the one kinda behind Yak and Yeti? That's kinda a walk around and it only has like three stalls?

Shan - Yes you will be passing Mexico and Norway before you head back out of EPCOT. No worries though 22 miles or so later you will be coming right back through there heading the other way. LOL

I'm thinking there are bathrooms closer to Everest not the restrooms by Yak and Yeti. That's the one I'm thinking I avoid. Not that the other one has anymore stalls.

So the Norway bathroom kinda to the side? Girls, does that one have lines? I'm thinking it is small, too?

Yeah, he said it when Ada was asking the support team if she could use the harvest workers' porta-potty on the side of the road.

Actually I've got running club teammates who do that - and they're not 2 or 3 hour marathoners.

Too bad there's not a bridge. Apparently in the NYC marathon you don't want to be on the bottom part of the Verrazano Bridge...or if you are try to get in the middle. Just sayin...

I know the women do it too - in 2009 I saw a lady on the side of the road by the McDonalds just right on the side of the road with her butt hanging out - she didn't even have a lookout or bushes - guess that's a true marathoner :scared1: . I remember going past her and I happen to be on the phone with my sister (I am one of those that uses the phone during the marathon - :rotfl2:) and saying to her "that lady, I see her butt, she is just peeing right here on the side of the road."

The line to use the trees just outside the starting corrals seemed very long at last years full. :rotfl:

The one I use every year during the half and the full and never has a line is the bathrooms near Dumbo/Pinnochio Village Haus. It is good timing for the full (for me anyway). You have just passed mile 10. Usually I am good with just that stop. I prefer to have a sink to wash my hands after so I don't like the port-o-potties.

Not finding my previous post to link to at the moment...

From all the ones discussed...
Epcot, the front of the park is not a good place. Nor is the Odessey due to lines. Norway may be the better bet, though in all seriousness , if you have a preface/early race need, the trees about an eighth of a mile post start line are the easiest and yes they are very coed.

mK, all th at i have ever stopped at are relLtively free. Note the Country BeR one is late in the prk and hidden, so less used.

form there I have only been in the AK, first one after we enter the park (at the time Everest was only a mole hill).
