Best hotel to stay at in LA

To start our LA trip, I am planning to go to a LA Dodger game on a Friday night and a UCLA football game on the Saturday. Can anyone recommend the best place/area to stay for those two nights that is centrally located to attend those two events? I am not sure if Pasadena is the best or not

I would suggest either Pasadena hotels or Doubletree or Miyako in Little Tokyo downtown.

Little Tokyo gives you a little taste of LA and some good Ramen/Sushi. 15 minutes walk to Union Station to catch the gold line to Pasadena or Amtrak/Metrolink to Disneyland (free ART bus if show your amtrak or metrolink ticket)

Getting around LA is pleasant when you can avoid traffic and take rail.
