Crazy question, and know its anyone's guess, but what would you estimate as the average time it will take from the time we land at the gate until we arrive at BWV on DME? Trying to figure out if we can try for a late dinner reservation and it's going to be tight! Land at 8:50pm on a Wed night in April (Jet Blue). May end up renting a van to pick us up instead but just thought I'd throw it out there (party of 8). Tks!

We have traveled from gate to resort in an hour, but we just made a departing DME bus and were the first resort stop.

Took us 2hrs last year. They used a bus driver who was in training. He was so slow I was losing it.

From the time you're on the bus to getting there it's been pretty consistently right at about 50 minutes or so for us. The biggest variation is how quickly you make it from your terminal to the bus, and then how long you're there before it departs.

Note this is not the norm. I think the bus ride is normally 45min-1hr.

I seriously was soooooo pissed. The guy literally drove 30-35mph the whole way.

Our typical experience with DME from the time we get to the DME area at MCO to our resort is typically 1 1/2 - 2 hours. If you are able to board a bus as soon as you get to the DME area and if your resort is the first one to drop off, you could beat those times by a bit. Usually we have to wait 15-20 minutes to board a bus and we have been in all the rotation slots (first, second, last) on the drop off resorts. In general, I would never rely on Disney transportation for anything if you are on a really tight schedule. :)

Honestly... I wouldn't risk the fee for missing the reservation. Only say that because our flight on Friday was delayed 2.5 hours. We had late night park fastpasses planned but that went out the window as soon as the flight was delayed. Didn't get to the resort till after midnight. Should have been there @10pm.

Hope all goes well... But you never know with air travel

On another trip... Our flight actually landed 25 minutes early. We had to wait 20 minutes just for a DME bus to arrive.... Then another 20 minutes waiting for other people... Then we were the 3rd stop. Never depend on Disney transportation in a hurry. Almost missed DME because of monorail delays from epcot to ttc then resort loop. Over an hour!

We seem to get stuck waiting to fill the bus at MCO which can take 20 minutes or a little more. My guess is that the total time is around 1 1/2 hours.

You are probably all correct...even if we rent a van we might not make it. I was being delusional :) Best to go without a reservation and take our chances on a late night walk-in.

I wouldn't make a reservation for that night. I'd say 1 1/2 hrs. is the norm, from when you land--but flights can easily be delayed. Our Nov. flight was delayed (no weather in our area, but weather where the plane came from) and we got in an hour later than expected, we got right on a DME bus, then waited another 15 min. for more people before we left, then we were the 3rd stop. If you're looking for food around 10:30PM on the Boardwalk, for restaurants still open, it may be easy enough to get a table--or you could see what is still available for quick service, like the pizza window. Also, looks like room service is available until midnight.

Thanks - all good ideas! Yes, wanted to try the new Italian place but we can be flexible :)

Agree with that late of an arrival, you were being delusional :)

Also depending on where you intend to dine, dinner of any sort can be difficult. Lets say you arrive at Boardwalk at 10:30, you still need to check-in and drop off your carry-ons. At that time of night there will be only a few choices near the Boardwalk.

About 90 minutes mid afternoon last month. I even stopped to get my checked luggage (to avoid waiting for delivery).

Don't forget that it takes time to get off the plane and through the airport before you are even ready to grab a cab. So if you just had carryons and skipped DME in favor of a cab, you might be able to do it in an hour, if you disembarked quickly and booked through the airport.

If you end up at the back of the airplane with a slow unload, a few minutes late at the gate, have to stop so everyone can use the bathroom, then have to get through the airport with little kids or people who don't move fast, then need to wait for DME, and have a resort that is the final stop, two hours.

Thanks everyone - not going to do a reservation, but will likely hire a van so we can get to BWV at a reasonable hour and folks can do pizza, room service or head to ESPN or Big River which are open til 11-11:30 if they so choose. We have a mixed group (four 50-60 somethings and four 20-somethings, so am guessing there might be some different choices!)

I don't know how long your flight is or where you are coming from, but when I'm going to land late, we usually find a spot to eat a late lunch/early dinner at the airport before boarding (our airport has some pretty good places, though). That way you aren't landing starving and after dinner time and you can do pretty well with just bar appetizers if you need to. It might be a good night to Epcot resort bar hop :)

I like it :) Obviously the "mature" 4 of us will take care of ourselves but the twenty-somethings will be arriving at the airport (Boston-Logan) at the last minute, coming form work undoubtedly, as they never seem to leave enough time for anything (and yes, the two boys are mine!)..so just wanting to have options, and you are right, there are plenty!
