Best good neighbor hotel

Ok here's my needs.....

I want a good neighbor hotel with a nice pool, nice rooms, and a decent free breakfast. Which hotel would be good for that???
It will be me, my mom, and my children (2 and 6)

We (3 of us) were just there last wed/thur at the Best Western Park Place. It was nice. Room seemed larger then the other we have stayed at. We had 2 queens, a sofa bed small fridge and microwave. They had an out door pool. We had free breakfast at Captian Kidds (toast, bagels, donuts, danish, hard boiled eggs, choice of 5 cereals, 4 or 5 juices, milk, whole fruit, coffee & tea) and took it back to the room. If you stay here and want to take food back to the room, bring something to carry it in. It is right across the street on Harbor.

We liked it - clean, convient, helpfull and nice staff.

With those requirements, I'd pick the Candy Cane Inn. It has a nice pool (on the smallish side, but nice), and a better than most continental breakfast. It even has it's own dedicated shuttle which is really nice.

If you think you could do without the breakfast, and maybe bring your own (cereal, milk, fruit, etc.), then I'd recommend the HoJo, since they have one of the best off-site pool areas with the Pirate's Cove splash ground.

i dont think ill find a cheaper (79) then hojos an thats for there ent rate Disney room because we got the ent book.
i keep checking but its not worth it the free breakfast we will just eat from what we buy to store in the fridge. (order from vons)

if you need free breakfast try camolot inn it was nice an the 4th floor had view of fireworks from our room (406 407 or 408 was the room)

Hampton Inn & Suites Garden Grove is nice. I've stayed there twice. THey have awesome breakfasts with lots of chices, a nice place to sit and eat it that is both inside and outside if you wish. Nice pool area. And they were just remodeled so everything is new! Only disadvantage is having to take the ART to and from Disneyland. The walk probably can be done, but for us it was too long.

When are you going?

If you can get the Entertainment rate, HoJo is the nicest on Harbor, even though they don't have breakfast. Like Jade said, we always preferred having cereal, yogurt, juice, muffins etc. in the room, anyway-- can eat while getting ready! HoJo has the best pool and water play area for kids. It's one block up from the crosswalk. Rooms are big. Even if you can't get the Ent rate, I'd still say it's worth it. This was one I considered as well. I think it looks pretty nice! I read good reviews in my Unnoficial Huide book as well as trip advisor.
My mother is a travel agent and she can get a rate of 79 for the Hyatt Regency Orange County. Does anyone have an opinion on which is better HOJO or Hyatt Regency (if they are the same price)??

We like the Tropicana, has all the things you mentioned, plus the location can't be beat. Right across from the cross walk.

We love the pool area, and nice hot tub. The breakfast is basic, but typical for what you get for free. Rooms are nice and clean. We've always had a nice quiet stay there.

On another thread someone said that Desert inn and Suites was very nice and directly across the street from the main gates of Disneyland/DCA..

I checked it out and it seems very affordable and comfortable!

desert inn and suites is a no frills but a place to lay your head and is clean.

I like it is cheap and right across the street from the crosswalk. If you looking for a place to sleep that is clean you cant go wrong here.

I will be staying here for the 3rd time the end of may for 69 bucks a night why not.

I'm going with eight girls mid june and they have a three bedroom suite that night available for $200!!

With a free continental breakfast and disney right across the street ! Score!

We're looking at Cortona Inn & Suites (1 1/2 blocks away). The 15% discount for extended stays over 3 days has an average price of $57.08 per night for 10/28-11/4/09.

Has anyone stayed there that can give some insight? Is it a good hotel?

Btw, OP, the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites has a price of $75.xx per night with the Entertainment card (if you have it). It's on our list of possibilities along with the one mentioned above.

We just returned from the Candy Cane Inn. Wonderful place to stay. Nice pool, free breakfast, walking distance to parks. They also provide a private shuttle to and from the parks. I will be posting photos soon.

My best friend stayed at both the HOJO and Ramada last week (I was lucky enough to be at Paradise Pier - worth the extra $400 IMO).

The Ramada was more expensive (I got them the entertainment rate of $59per night at HOJO) - and also the Ramada smelled funny....kind of musty or something. The beds were also relatively uncomfortable...although they are right across the street from the gates...

The HOJO was awesome - nice room and awesome pool.

Plus for the entertainment rate of $59 per night it was worth eating at Mimi's for breakfast - many of thier breakfasts are around $7 or $8 and some are very "splittable" as they are huge (although there is NO WAY I would even consider sharing the Pain Perdue - it was so great I didn't even want to relinquish a bite to my sister...she almost lost her hand the first time she reached over to steal a bite )

If this is the RI near the corner of Harbor and Chapman then you'll love it. At least we did. The suites are great and the breakfast is the best I've had at any of the hotels I've stayed at. You can make your own waffles in addition to several other hot items that are available. My kids loved it. All in all, you will enjoy this RI but will probably want to use the ART shuttle as its a rather long walk to the park from here.
