I've read several posts on gluten free options, and have read some blogs about dining choices with these restrictions. I know you can request certain items from Chefs at each restaurant. My question to you is: what are your best choices for gluten free (or better yet, grain free) and/or organic (or at least GMO free) snacks to pack with you--both snacks/foods to keep in your room, and snacks appropriate to pack in a back to take into a park. It doesn't have to be BOTH GF and organic, but at least one of the two is preferred, both of the two would be awesome.
We are driving so we can buy at local grocery or Amazon in advance, or can stop by a local store to pick up more perishable things). I live in a major city and have awesome choices in grocery stores (including WF and Trader Joe's, Aldis, our Targets have a decent selection, and a few of our local chain grocery stores are slowly but surely getting a great selection.
We are staying at AS Movies so we would only have the small fridge, and no cooking accommodations.
Adult and kid-friendly options both appreciated. I try to eat as much of an autoimmune diet as I can manage to keep myself on track for. I try to feed my kids and husband similarly because of health benefits and lower cross contamination, but they certainly cheat a lot on my GF and organic choices, so it isn't a necessity for them.
Trying to think of smaller pre-packaged options for easy carry, esp into parks for snacks. But if necessary I could pre-bag in ziplocks at home.
Some I'm thinking of:
My little boy likes choc milk and I hate non-organic dairy milk, so I get him the small chocolate almond milk four packs that our local walmart (and almost no other stores! carry).
Maybe some Mom's Best Naturals Cocoa Rice cereal (gluten free) or Vans Cereals version of Cinnamon Toast Crunch. (Not the healthiest, but my family is obsessed with cereals.
I saw Annie's has some GF cheese type crackers (sort of like Goldfish) at Target.
Maybe some GF pretzels from Aldi's.
Some organic juices for the kids.
Maybe some GF bread with lunch meat for quick sandwich options in the room if we need more than a snack but less than a meal.
Way Better Tortilla Chips
Maybe small shelf-stable chicken broths for stomach soothing.
The most creative options appreciated!! I'm looking for new ideas...
