I know it'll be hot when we go so walking round blizzard beach bare foot won't work for me or the kids. Also wearing flip flops is probably no good since we'll have to take off whenever we go in the water or on a slide.
Are there any shoes you'd recommend that can be worn round the water parks without removing every time you go in the water?

What about those wet shoes that you wear when canoeing, etc? I seem to think they fasten/tighten up like normal shoes?

Best check Disney don't have any quirky rules. I know at Aquatica they didn't like goggles

I hope that's not the case at Disney! Mine are prescription, and I can't see without them!

No DD uses goggles and I wear contact lenses and borrowed her spare pair when she was desperate that I 'swam properly' with her a couple of years ago and had no issues both at the resort pools and at the waterparks.

I live in my mary jane crocs at WDW and kept them on in the waterparks in the wave pools and the lazy river and had no issues with it. I also wore them on some of the tube rides and just left them on my lounger for the ones I wasn't sure if I could take them on.

You want shoes or at least swimming socks on your feet. That ground gets HOT!

Found on moms panel googles are fine at Disney. Also checked Aquatica and their site says ok too. It was when they opened we went so probably a communication thing.

We got some water shoes really cheap in Walmart so I think I may dig them out. Standing around tikes peak retrieving child from slides I think I may need them thus time.

Both my girls go to swimming lessons and the older one is doing lifeguard training so they go in the pool a lot!

My eldest suffered terribly with verrucas for a period and in the end I got so fed up with sorting them out I found some speedo swim socks.

They are £8.00 a pair and basically like a neoprene sock with a little grip on the bottom - very easy to get on - totally flexible for swimming too. I wish I'd found these sooner - my two wear them all the time. They don't last months though as the grip wears away and they end up with a hole in them. My two wore them in Greek August heat last year and they stopped their feet burning on the poolside :thumbsup2

I don't think you can post links but have a look at simplyswim dot com - under speedo girls pool sock (they have adults/boys too). Cheapest I have found.

I will be taking these for my girls when we go (and possibly myself too).

I agree with 2Tiggies, the ground can get really hot! I've come down Summit Plummet wearing my croc flip flops like gloves :) for most other rides they did somehow manage to stay on! DD and DH both wore water shoes - search ebay or similar for water / aqua shoes they aren't too expensive :goodvibes

Thanks everyone. I'll take a look at everything recommended today and see what I can get.

Water shoes are a good option - Sports Direct had them for £3 last year. They were $40 at the water parks!

Of course going bare foot on the hot paving does make you far more entertaining to watch, as you do a kind of Rafiki-making-a-spell type of hot coals dance along the fiery hot ground ;)

Yes, Piglet, I also just put my shoes on my wrists a few times, but that was because I was worried they'd come off, not because I was told not to wear them. You won't lose them inside any sort of raft so the family rides are fine.

$40? :crazy2:
