Haven't seen too many folks from the 'peg on here, but hoping to hear some positive feedback.

We're getting married at the end of Jan/08, so there will be a ton of us going. Been hunting down fares, and the best rates right now are for Northwest (which I hear have been cancelling alot of flights lately).

To keep things simple, we'd like to go through customs in Winnipeg, make 1 stop in Minn, and then to MCO.

Our guests are starting to panick about fares and booking. When is a good time to book, and what are the lowest available fares/airlines to book with?

Hi there :) I just booked my flights for Oct last week. I've been watching the fares since Feb and Northwest has consistently been the lowest with the most convenient flight times. Maybe check in with a travel agent to see if/when they expect fares to drop. I got mine for $440 round trip.

My fiance's family is in Winnipeg and we have always found Northwest to be the cheapest. Last Sept. he managed to get rtn for $350.

congrats on your wedding!
i am always excited to see another disney bride!
we were married at disney and had several people fly with us from winnipeg..we got the best deal on Northwest and had one stop with a very short lay over in MSP..it was a good flight.

we have used northwest before and have been happy with them.

we did use westjet on our last trip..and missed our connection in toronto..it was NOT a good day for us..

i also prefer to clear customs here and get it over with.

we have flown from MSP as well..the price of the flights (under 900.00 cad for three people taxes included) made it worth the drive.

We have flown Wpg - Ohare- MCO nice route - only about an hour layover is chicago. ( are again this Dec as well- Using aeroplan points )

Check United airlines - I did a quick search and it was just under $800 per for return

United also gets you there with a route via Denver - Have not flown that one but both clear customs in Winnipeg.

Congrats on the wedding and have a wonderful time

Also call the airline direct - they might have a group discount available

We are going in November. Flying from Winnipeg to Minneapolis to Orlando on NWA. We paid $440 (including tax etc. )

What is this about NWA cancelling flights????

We have also always found the best times/prices with Northwest. We went Westjet once (NEVER AGAIN WITH KIDS) and found that the layover in TO is not long enough to clear customs. Also way more expensive (we used airmiles) unless on short notice. We have never paid more than around $560 using Northwest, and this Aug, we got flights for $414. They also have group rates (around 10% off) for groups of 10 or more, i believe.

Northwest is usually cheapest...df booked our christmas trip with northwest about three weeks ago...it was 500 dollars I believe(i forget exactly) for each of us round trip in first class. We thought that was pretty good since he flys me out to see him its 400 dollars for just me in coach. Good luck and congrats thats so exciting! I wanted to get married in dis, but it wasn't an option...so we'll be renewing our vows there in ten yrs (get married july 19th 08)Congrats again!

Thanks all,

Looks like Northwest is the way to go, but I've been reading up on the airline and they are in a rather volatile position of late. Also heard that, like Air Can., they just simply must keep operating. My only concern is that something drastic may happen closer to the wedding.

Our TA is keeping an eye out for us. Told her to let us know when seats are being sold quickly. Figure around Sept would be a good time to book?

Thank you for all of your well wishes. We are really excited to become Mr. & Mrs. in Disney! There will be around 80ppl coming down with us - good times!

Northwest will definately get you the least expensive option. I regularily track airfares, and the best we've ever gotten was $387. once. The Winnipeg, MSP to MCO route is the best as well. Good Luck!

Hi again,

I'm re-hashing this thread to get yet another opinion from y'all on flights.

Our TA was able to get a group rate with AC for $694 return! Ick, not the price I was hoping for. This would also mean a stop in TO and clearing customs there, vs our preferred Minneapolis stop. Our TA indicates that Northwest Airlines is still under bankruptcy protection, and I'm concerned about what will happen to them. Do we take the change and book a flight with NW, or stick to AC? Or, do we wait a bit yet to see if prices come down for United? HELP!

Book with NWA. It shouldn't be a problem. We've booked a number of flights since bankruptcy and it's been fine. Did I mention almost every American Airline has recently been under bankruptcy protection and restructuring. Flying is up in the U.S. and a lot are coming out of protection.

I would still book with NWA.....they've been under bankruptcy protection forever! Thats high for the AC flights and TO has frequent delays. Doesn't surprise me at all hearing about missed connections there. I would try to avoid a stopover in TO if at all possible.

Thanks all! Sounds like NWA is no longer under bankruptcy protection!!!:cool1: :yay: :woohoo:

Our TA was able to arrange NWA flights at $450 return!!!   I think we are definately going to jump on it today!

We always fly Northwest and have had no problems with them (other than changing our flight times). They are consistently the lowest price even for us in Edmonton - our trip in May we were able to get a ticket for $225/per person round trip and for our trip in January we were able to get a round trip ticket for $220/per person.
