We haven't driven to WDW since 2000 (have flown on our last 5 trips) so can't remember what route we took. We will be driving from Illinois on our upcoming trip (leave 3/24) and will be staying at WL (if that makes a difference on the best route). Mapquest, Rand McNally, UG all say I-75 to Florida Turnpike, to I-4 West then take exit 67. I read about two other alternatives on another thread. One was to take exit 289 (US 27) off the Turnpike to US 192 to World Drive. Another talked about a new toll road (429 South) around Winter Garden (I think it was at exit 267 off the Turnpike) to US 192 (or possibly a WDW exit that was to be opening soon). Can anyone tell me which of these is the fastest route?

Exact question I was wondering? I hope someone can answer for me.

we are driving down in a couple of weeks and my triptik from AAA I-65 to I-24 to I-75 to US-27 to US-192 to world dr. This is comming from the chicago area. Happy driving :moped:

From reading another thread it sounds like the Disney exit off 429 is open. This is probably your best route regardless of which Disney hotel you are staying at. So from I-75 south you would exit to the FL Turnpike then exit the turnpike at 429 and take 429 to the Disney exit. If I am wrong and the Disney exit is not open 429 does exit onto 192 and that will take you to Maingate. I don't recomend I-4 it is rather congested most of the day. US-27 isn't a bad choice but it does have a lot of traffic lights, if you choose 27 make sure you don't get on it until after you are on the Turnpike, it has several exits off of I-75.

Thank you for the driving directions! I am glad to find a better way then on I-4.

Take I-75 to the Florida Turnpike, which is exit 328.

Take the turnpike southbound to exit 267 onto SR-429 SOUTH.

Stay on that about 10 miles until you see the signs for "HARTZOG ROAD/WALT DISNEY WORLD"

Get off that exit and at the bottom of the ramp take a left towards Walt Disney World. Follow the road all the way to the end, and you will be right next to CSR on Buena Vista Drive.

Not that I don't trust any of you, but looking on mapquest, it looks like 429 ends just a few miles south of the FL TP. I don't see it going near Disney. Is there an updated map or is this a new extension?

Anne,

I was wonndering about the toll costs going this route? I want to make sure I have the correct amount. I also can't find SR-429 going toward Disney on a map. It looks like it ends way before?

Then I must have used my magic carpet yesterday to get to Epcot from Clermont when 192 was closed from 27 to 429, giving me the option of taking the Tpke to 429 to Western way, or the longer and more congested tpke to I-4.

I chose the first option.

It's a brand new road. Mapquest hasn't updated their maps to reflect it. I live here. I work right next to 429 where it meets the FL Tpke. I take the road from that point to Western Way every time I go to WDW after work.

When complete the 429 will run all the way south to I-4 just north of Winter Haven.

It's about $1.50. I think most of the toll booths are manned, but have an assortment of nickles, dimes, and quarters. I know that at least one of the tolls is $.30 and another is $1.00.
