Besides the obvious Disney....what was your favorite family vacation destination??? I'm looking for ideas for next July.
TIA

We LOVE to cruise!! We also like Topsail Island North Carolina, Southern Utah and San Diego CA.

Hawaii. There is something for everyone!

Outer Banks. Peaceful, beautiful, full of fun, great food, safe.

This summer we spent 2 weeks in New England. We camped in Acadia National Park in Maine, spent a couple days in Massachusetts seeing the Freedom trail and Plymouth Plantation/Plymouth Rock, then spent a few more days in a cabin in Vermont. It was fabulous--lots of outdoor active adventure, lots of history learning, lots of yummy food!:thumbsup2
And cheap! I think we spent about $1500 total for our family of 6 (including gas money from Virginia, lodging, food, entrance fees to museums or places, etc)

Washington DC is a nice alternative if your kids are older.

We love the Outer banks.

This past Summer we spent over 2 weeks in Portland, OR area. We stayed in Portland the majority of the time. Still is more there that we did not get to. The major draw to Portland is it is about 2 hours from the beach and 2 hours from the mountains. We did it all. Love the beach! It was cold and we needed to buy coats. We loved the break from the heat!

Cannon Beach was our ultimate favorite place.:lovestruc Haystack Rock has sea stars, seas cucumbers and so much more to see and investigate. You can rent beach bikes that are similar to trikes. Looks like so much fun. You are allowed to have bonfires on the beach.

Mt Hood was beautiful as well. We also spent a long weekend in Seattle, WA.
We would love to have at least a week to spend at the beach. A little further south they have dune buggy rentals and rides too!

Branson, MO is very affordable. Water parks, water sports, lots of shows, great food, amusement parks and more. We go there alot because it is driving distance for us and my parents live close by there. They now have their own airport as well.

We had an awesome time in the Black Hills/Mount Rushmore area (long summer driving trip in 2009), and an equally great time this past summer doing a long driving trip to the Grand Canyon and several other NP's in Utah.

We did Grand Tetons in July of 2009. It was fabulous. Stayed at the Jackson Lake Lodge. Lots to do for a family.

We tried a cruise this past summer with two teenagers...and it was more fun than I thought possible. I have been avoiding taking one for years and now, I am hooked! I wouldn't hesitate about booking another one. You get to see different places without moving to a different hotel every night...and the food is included in your fare. We ate SO much!!! :goodvibes

I love to cruise ~ we've also spent a week in Maui *it was lovely but I prefer cruising.

My DS loves NPs ~ we're lucky to live within driving distance to several ~ this year we've been to Arches, Canyonlands, Zion, Bryce & the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. It's been a while since we've been to Yellowstone but we plan to return next summer.

The NW coast *OR & WA* is lovely.
