First timers From Bridgewater,VA, coming to the Fort. We have been to Disney 6 times stayed in various resorts and had a great time. Thought this would be the time to try camping at Fort Wilderness. We will be arriving Sat. Oct. 31,09. Will be coming down I-4 from Orlando, what is the best exit # to get off I-4, and what is the easiest Routes/road names to take to the Fort, will be pulling 27' Wilderness TT.

Get off at exit 67. Once you exit, you will see a Downtown Disney exit and you need to bare right there. You'll come to a traffic light. Stay straight and you will pass the Port Orleans Resorts on the right. Once you get to the end, take a left and about a 1/2 mile you'll see the fort on the right.

If you're coming on the Fl turnpike take the first WDW exit, 429 and follow the signs to the Fort. It saves some time and the hassle of I-4.

Get off at exit 67 (Downtown Disney/EPCOT exit). Look for the Port Orleans Resorts Exit. Once you're off the exit-it's the 3rd right. Go to the light and take a left. This is Bonnet Creek Rd. (pass Port Orleans (French Quarter and Riverside)-come to a light and turn left. This is VISTA Dr. pass the golf course and Ft. Wilderness is on the right. (pass the parking lot). This saves a few more traffic lights.
These are directions coming from Orlando on I-4:goodvibes

Take the exit for Magic Kingdom. As you approach the MK parking lot, use the far right lane (not all the way to the right, that is for buses only). Tell the cm at the booth you are checking into Fort Wilderness. Follow their directions, pulling straight ahead and then turning to the right. FW is just around a couple of corners on the left hand side.

Take 22 east to the Airport Road South exit. Take airport road thru the light on Union where it turns into Graham street. Go past the high school and take a right on Hanover Avenue. Wait a minute. Those are the directions to my office. Never mind.

If you're traveling in a motorhome or pulling a trailer - follow Stacktester's directions. If coming by car to stay in a cabin, use Ynottony's directions. A motorhome/trailer is a little "dicey" to pull thru the travel plaza at the MK.

I know this from experience! :scared1: (But thankfully, I wasn't driving :rolleyes1)

Oops! I just read that you're pulling a TT. Follow Stack's directions.

Personally, I would get off at Exit 67, but then follow the Magic Kingdom signs. Use the right booth at the Auto Plaza for the Fort. I know it's tight for an 81/2' MH but I love arriving at the main gate! It's part of the MAGIC!

Both are correct. If you follow Stack's exit - stay in the right lane when you pull off of exit 67, because the first exit comes up fast. If you follow SSCamper's, you have a little breathing room before you reach the POFQ exit. Pulling a 27' tt, I'd opt for the POFQ 3rd exit, myself.

The only "problem" you may encounter coming in this way is the right turn into FtW itself. It's a little sharp. You need to swing wide.

My private office is full of Disney merchandise and collectibles, and I always have a fresh pot of Kona coffee on. I walk around wearing a Mickey baseball hat. You probably would be there for a couple days before you realized you weren't at WDW.

Will have the family with us and just so there are no surprises..... Please say you have something else on too....right? :scared1::rotfl:

Just passed the high school... Do we need an appointment? I hope our tent will fit in the parking lot!:cool1:

If the exciting scenery on the way in does not matter, take the 67exit, turn at the Port Orleans light, to the end then left. Well, sounds better from stacktester.:thumbsup2

I have found that this is the best way to get to the Fort from I 75, not I95 .

Travel on 429S to Exit 8 (Disney World/Hartzog Rd) This road will take you to West Buena Vista Dr. near Coronado Springs. Turn left and follow the Disney signs to the Fort

Seriously? Coming south on I-95 to I-4 you'd get on the turnpike and back north and west of Disney to get on 429? I sure like it coming from I-75, but it seems out of the way from I-95.
