We are about to book our excursion for Nassau and would like some advice about which would be better for us and our 3 yr old son! We would like to see Atlantis, but think that the walking tour would be too much......and also are considering the Blue Lagoon! Which would you advise! Would love to hear from anyone who has done either/both with their good and bad points!

Hi, I can give you one side. I do know that the Atlantis is a great place. I believe there is a difference in what you get at the Atlantis excursion and Getting a room at the Atlantis hotel (booked outside of DCL). If you book a room, you get to use all the pools and the slides. I don't know how much your 3-year old would be able to do here since I haven't been to it. It sounds really nice. Someone will be able to help with the Atlantis beach day excursion.

We went to the Blue Lagoon 6-02. We had a wonderful time. It has shallow water to play in on the inlet side. It was very clear and clean. You can snorkle here as well. It's very nice, but nothing special. We thought it was, it was our first time for this. We brought our own equipment. You can rent vests-you must have these to snorkle. It was nice because there is a small beach where my ds11 at the time played while my dh and I took turns snorkeling. It is walk in here. There are lots of little creatures to watch in the rocks and sand. Your little one would probably like that-I did! The lunch provided was ok-a cookout. I would bring drinks. A return ferry went back at 2:00 and 4:00.

The only downside was that it is about 45 min to get there. Your ds would probably like the ride out and maybe nap on the way in! It does take pretty much the whole day though.

I don't know if I would recommend the walking tour for you. When we went this past June, it was blazing hot and the kids in my family group were miserable just at the straw market! I'm not sure how hot it is during the rest of the year.

Both seem to be completely different experiences... So that would be your prefence!

If you would like to see Atlantis, then I would recommend not taking the excursion, but going on your own. No extended hiking tour to keep up with! No water-taxi :D You can taxi over to Atlantis. It is not far. And then you can taxi back whenever you decide. If you would like full access to pools and beaches, then you can rent a room at either the Atlantis, or for a cheaper rate, the Comfort Suites which is across the street. We have reserved a room there for $136.50. This is a special rate.... To see if there are any special rates on your date, go to placestostay.com and proceed as if you are booking a room. You will see special rates there that I have not seen anywhere else. Then, if you want to take advantage of one of the rates, I would suggest then calling the Comfort Suites 1-800 number and book directly thru Comfort. Simply ask for the rate you want. Ours was the LGOLD rate.

Hope this helps!

Good luck planning!

I also have a 3 year old and was wondering what to do on the Nassau day. My husband wants a place to go gamble in the casino for a while and the Atlantis is the only one I am hearing of. We would just take a taxi over. That is def the way to go. We went to the Alantis about 5 years ago and had a blast. But that was because we had access to the slides, and lazy river, pools, etc.

But it sounds like now the only way to get a day pass is to actually rent a room. Can you not even walk through the hotels acquariums and pool area etc unless you are a guest? Back then I remember them saying that the beach area out side the hotel was a public beach. I am not sure if it still is.

I know my 3 year old would love Atlantis's water area but it sounds like we won't be allowed there and I'm not even sure about the beach.

OK, so what exactly do you get at the Atlantis Beach day...is it just a voucher for lunch and a space on the beach, or does it also give you access to the aquarium? Are you allowed unlimited access to wonder around the water park etc or not?

What does the Blue Lagoon day involve? Is it a nice beach? IS there shade? Was it crowded?

Thanks for your help

Yes, the Atlantis Beach Day excursion does include The Dig. No pools....

I hear that the main beach area, where you will be, is a fairly steep drop-off and the surf can be a bit rough for a little three year old??? I am wondering about the COVE Beach (Not lagoon beach). Has anyone visited Cove Beach at Atlantis?

So what parts of the hotel and surrounding beaches are available to the public for free. Obviously the casino and resterants but more????

Any other casinos near a beach?
