Thinking about planning a trip for the last week of June, right after the kids get out of school but I know it will be very hot and very busy so I feel like the only way I can deal w/that is to stay first of all at a DVC-money's tight so we've thought about selling the pts and staying at a moderate but I know i'd be miserable the whole time so is it really worth it? Why own DVC if you can't enjoy it? Also, if we're in a 1 bedroom (have to be w/3 kids-7, 5 and 3) we can plan on having breakfast and lunch in the room-maybe not every day but often enough to help cut down on some of the food costs. Which resort would you chose and why? Point wise we've been looking at OKW and AKV but we might consider borrowing and staying at one of the others....

We'll be at VWL that exact week.

We love it because it has the two pools pretty close to each other
the kids love the sand and watching the electrical parade
we love walking down to Roaring Forks for some soft serve.
kids enjoy the arcade
the hidden Mickey tour
Hanging out in the lobby
and the kids love that the ducks actually fly into the pool and swim with them! :scared:

It's a nice boat ride away from MK.

You may not have your pick of resorts, but I would go with OKW because of the size of the 1 bedrooms and the price is right pointwise. It also has a real dining room table, and if you're eating in and using the kitchen, I think that's important.

How busy do you think the DVC resorts will be compared to the other resorts on property at this time. Is it just all around busy?

I would stay at either Boardwalk Villas. Epcot is within walking distance, and MGM is only a boat ride away...no buses to wait. Plus Boardwalk has entertainment nightly on the boardwalk and a real cool slide at their main pool. I've alway stayed at the one-bedroom standard view to save on pts. The other one to consider is Beach Club.

I hope this helps.:hippie:

Good point about the standard view, I hadn't thought of that, but what are our odds of getting it at that time of year? I do love staying at BWV-it might actually be my favorite :lovestruc but we stayed there the last 2 times and were thinking of trying somewhere else.

At this late date, I doubt you will have much luck with standard view. I guess I would see what's available first. I agree about the extra space at OKW, but I might consider AKV for the extra pullout bed in the form of a chair. It would give you more available beds.

OKW will definitely be the best points value, and the most space. We own at SSR, but like OKW even better!

Of course I love BWV and BCV too ... but you'll spend more on points for those due to the awesome location.

I say check out the Beach Club Villas.

We stayed at BCV during the last week of June last year and its was really fun. The kids loved the massive pool complex - Storm Along Bay plus we also hung out at the DVC pool, which was so quiet and a nice change of pace.

Another benefit was the onsite character breakfast; which I think is the only way we could have made a character breakfast on time.

The Beach Club also has nightly movies on the beach and its withing walking distance to the fun & games at Boardwalk and of course, Epcot is a short walk and the Studios are a close boat ride away.

I didn't find the crowds all that bad either; we encountered the worst of it at the Studios for the Stars Wars weekend but the other parks were fine and the heat was never really an issue either. I think its a good time of year to go.:)

Even though you've already stayed in BW, (and even though it's my personal fav :), I still recommend it because it's the second lowest in points per night, has the standard view option for a lower points cost, has the community hall and all that goes with it, has a great pool for families and children, has all the activities in/on/around the Boardwalk, great eateries (Sweet Shoppe, Bakery) that appeal to the kids, AND is close to Epcot and MGM! It's like the best of everything! Enjoy planning and have a GREAT trip.

I called and booked that week last week. Only SSR, OKW, and BWV 1 bedrooms were available.

wondering what studios are still available the last week of June? We are closing on DVC this week and are wondering what studios are still left for last week of June--I took a leap of faith and bought our SWA tickets--assuming there would be something available!!
