Best DTD restaurant for dinner?

As I mentioned in a different thread, DH and I are planning on going to a dinner without our children one night on our trip in June (the kids will stay at Simba's Clubhouse). DH now thinks he would like to go to DTD for dinner and walk over to Pleasure Island afterwards. We had eaten once at Wolfgang Puck Express and at Planet Hollywood, but no where else.

What have been your experiences with dinner at DTD restaurants? Any favorites?

Thanks!

I loved our dinner at Portobello Yacht Club two years ago. Good food, nice atmosphere, great service, but a bit expensive.

We enjoyed Wolfgang Pucks & will be eating there again this trip.

Another good choice would be Bongos, tasty Cuban-inspired food. I avoided it for a while because it's celebrity-owned, but it really is good.

We love Bongos. Have eaten there on two trips, and we just enjoy the atmosphere and of course the food. Especially if you get a booth, they are quiet and intimate. The service has been great as well.

My family did not care for Bongo's at all--a cuban restaurant that served......French bread. Now what is up with that?

(or dinner rolls or something that looked like it came from the Grocery store. My mother who is a chef--was VERY disappointed in that)

I bet Wolfgang's or Fulton's would be YUMMY.

I will chime in that I greatly enjoyed Bongos on my last trip. The tamal de hoja was delicious and I had the Chicharrones de Pollo which were crispy and the mojo added a nice vinegary bite. The service was excellent and attentive.

I am not so much a fan of Planet Hollywood. EVen when the place is near empty it seems like the staff is overly stressed & rushed. The food is pretty standard though I do like the Cruncht Chicken Appetizer.

We prefer Bongos or Puck's. Planet Hollywood's food is nothing to write home about. If you go to Bongos though, be warned -- it might not be so quiet. When they have live entertainment it can get pretty loud!

We didn't make it to Bongo's this trip because of timing and walking (my dad was tired). When we ate there in Nov 2003 it was fantastic. We let the kids have McDonald's at DTD before we went and they had ice cream at Bongo's while we ate our dinners. It was a beautiful night and we ate outside. It was one of the most pleasant dining experiences we had at WDW. They do NOT have PS's though. They open for dinner at 4pm and I got there right before 4pm and we could have been seated right away if the rest of my group had been there.
