Hey! Anyone know the best place to get dollars and what the current rate is? Don't want to use online currency places as am changing a grand and am sceptical. Am just outside Manchester so please no London-only collection deals! Also, am not stayin at Disney resort so wondered how much counter service food likely to be? Am tryin to figure out how much spendin money we might need! There's only me and my 6 yr old goin! Thanks for all your help! :)

I just got some from the moneyshop at 1.51 reserved on line at the moneyshop the night before collection at 1.4897 and then when I went to the store he said he could better the rate to 1.51 , happy with any rate over 1.50

Wow! That's great, thanks! I have $3000 and all my excursions are paid for but we're stayin 2 weeks so didn't know how much to take given we have to buy food, pay for transport (I can't drive) and souvenirs.. am thinkin maybe $5000 a good amount??

Just remember travel insurance usually only covers you for £100-300 of cash. If it gets stolen or lost you lose the lot. Relatives had their villa broken into a few month back, £2,000 gone plus other things, insurance won't pay a penny.

Yeah but am using mainly currency card. Most of cash will be spent on limo transfer from airport to hotel! :) Any excess cash will be safely stored in automatic room safe so no worries. I'm a frequent globetrotter so tend to know about insurance, safety tips etc but thanks for thinkin of that in case anyone hasn't done! I have Platinum coverage any time I travel to US with medical costs bein so high over there etc and it covers me for a decent amount of cash... can't remember amount off hand but it's definitely over $300!

I would suggest visiting compareholidaymoney.com it's a comparison site for travel money to find the best rate.

As for counter service, it is REALLY difficult to say how much it will cost because it will very much depend on how much food you're going to want to eat and what food you want to eat. This link will help shed some light on it for you.

On average anything from $8 - 16 is about the range.

K, thanks Mr Romance! Will be sure to check it out! Great username btw! :)

Thank you, I'm married to Mrs Romance! :rotfl2:

If your son is 6, I would recommend splitting a meal with him because the meals are plentiful enough to do that. My daughter is 9 and we usually share. Some places, such as Cosmic Rays and Flame Tree BBQ, you can get a Chicken & Ribs Combo meal that could feed a family of 3! The portions are large so you as long as you can agree on what you want, you'll probably be able to share most of the time.

I usually use Covent Garden FX, they send money insured next day delivery (you don't have to collect), I live nowhere near them and have always had mine sent with no issue (more than 5 times now) , rate is just over 1.51 at the moment

K, thanks! And MrRomance.. it's SO sweet ya bein married 2 MrsRomance! My partner would NEVER admit anythin like that! Only reason am travellin alone with my son is that my new partner works at the other side of the world and can't get leave to come with us! Thanks for the food advice!! Our hotel is one child eats free for each adult that pays full price so will eat there a lot and probably just do counter service during day I think.. thanks guys! You are all SO helpful! God bless this site!! :)
