What was your best Disney upgrade? Was it total Disney Magic? What time of year was it? :Pinkbounc

HI, February 12th,2003!! We checked into the Poly after midnite. We had driven right thru from RI. The lobby and front desk were empty, someone finally came to help us, he took a while getting us up in the computer. We had booked a GV concierge with a military rate of about 225.00 and I had requested a 1st floor because of the no balconey on 2nd. Well he tells us we are on the second floor and sends us over to the Concierge building. I was a little disappointed but too tired to say anything! So they buzz us in and take us to the room. When we enter the room is dark and all I can see is the CASTLE all lite up!! They had upgraded us to LV and it was BEAUTIFUL!! They also had left us a complimentary plate of chocolate covered strawberries with a white chocolate MINNIE+MICKEY! :Pinkbounc It was our BEST concierge stay EVER!! Joan

We stayed at Wilderness Lodge June 2003. We had originally booked Woods view. Upon check in I asked if we could have a room with a view of the fireworks. Th CM did his "magic" on the computer and we were upgraded to concierge level with a beautiful view of the fireworks. It was a magical stay. Only problem now is, my DH really liked concierge and we stayed there last year and again for our upcoming stay this June. But it is well worth it. Just have to budget plan a little bit better. :flower:

Halloween weekend this past year, dh and I took a last minute anniversary trip to AKL. We booked standard view. We checked in mid-morning on that Saturday and were upgraded to a savana view. The CM said this was because there were no "kings" available as we had requested.

A couple weeks ago. Booked wing at Contemporary.
Had faxed a request asking for room near an elevator because husband uses a cane and has difficulty walking.
Upgrade to room near elevator in the tower on 7th fl. Quite a surprise.

In March my Husband and I took a solo trip and stayed 1 ngt. at AKL. When we checked we were upgraded from a parking lot view to one of their best savannah views!!! It was great; we loved it! We were told that we did so well because we were only staying the 1 night and they looked for a room to put us in so as not to goof up their need for rooms for longer stays coming in that same day or something to that effect.

One year we had a water view room at the Beach Club, it was our first time saying and when we arrived we were told we had received an upgraded to a water view room on the concierge floor and to this day I have no idea why, but that didn't stop me from saying .."THANKS"!! That was the last week of November.

We were lucky enough to be upgraded at the GF. We booked a room there with an SOG "overflow" rate a number of years ago. We expected the worst possible room, but were still thrilled to be staying at the GF. But when we got to our room and opened the drapes there was the castle right up close and personal. It was a real treat. I t was a fourth floor dormer room in Sago Kay.

Did they actually charge you for this or was this free? Meaning did you pay the price for the room you actually booked or the price of the concierge room? Just wondering. We are staying at the WL for the first time this May.

Summer of 1994 my parents were taking my brother and I to Disney (I was going to be a senior in HS- last family trip). We had made reservations for CBR and got a call.... they wanted to upgrade us to the YACHT Club. My mom did not believe it, and had to call them back so that she believed it was real. I think back then the moderate (CBR) filled up like a year in advance... so maybe they were trying to hook us on the Deluxe. It was a real treat, we had a room right next to the quiet pool with a porch... and the extra daybed made for a nicer stay....Too bad this does not happen anymore really!

Last October, stayed 5 nights in 2-bedroom BWV with daughter and grandkids. They had to leave on Friday and we were leaving Saturday. We decided to stay 2 more nights (Saturday and Sunday) and it took about an hour on the phone. Front desk had a standard room at the Boardwalk Inn for rack rate. We called CRO to try and get a cheaper room in a moderate or value and found there was NOTHING anywhere. Since we were on property, they suggested calling or stopping in because each resort has inventory for walk-ins. Called front desk of BWI back and booked standard room at rack rate and was thankful it was still available. Upon checking out of BWV into our BWI room, we found we were upgraded to a Garden Suite! The CM at the desk said, "Oh, you've never stayed in one of our "cottages" before?" and proceeded to personally escort us to the Concierge Lounge. He introduced us to all the CM's at the Innkeepers Club and made us feel like we were royalty. 'Course I started to cry right there in the middle of the lounge. Our "cottage" was heavenly and our extra 2 days magical! :wizard:

We have received 4 complimentary upgrades for our 5 trips: one at CSR, one at POFQ, one at POR and the best one at AKL. We had reserved a standard view room (as usual) and were given a deluxe savannah view room overlooking the Uzima Savannah! We got a special rate for the room (around $125/night) for our participation in the 9/11 recovery but we didn't really expect an upgrade. At CSR, we received a "garden view" room in the Ranchos section; at POFQ, we received a water view room overlooking the Sassagoula River; and at POR, we received a few overlooking a grassy courtyard.

In May of '99 we were upgraded from a regular waterview room to a one bedroom waterview suite at the BC:flower: I felt like a queen- it was only my second time in a deluxe resort and the first time with turndown service, etc. A CM actually stopped by our room daily to see if we wanted anything. I think it was during the time when BC didn't have a concierge but I'm not sure. I remember dancing around like this crazy banana  when we first saw our room. The room itself was the nicest we've had so far!

August of 2003 we were originally slated to stay at POFQ but then they closed for rennovations. We were upgraded to the Poly for $30 more a night and to the AKL savannah view for $10 more. When we were checking in to AKL, they asked if we minded not having 2 rooms and instead were upgraded to a 2 BR suite. That room was AWESOME. I really don't think I will ever stay at a room in a hotel that will meet that room, not to mention the fact that we had 2.5 bathrooms and 2 balconys!

In 2002 I had booked a Suite at the BCV. We were on a package plan. Upon checkin we were upgraded to a 1 Bedroom Villa. I asked why and was told "Disney does this sometimes". Initially I was concerned about the cost, as we had prepaid for the Suite. However, it was no additional charge. It was wonderful, and of course we are hooked on the 1 Bedroom Villa, headed back for our 3rd stay in October.

DEC 1993 - we honeymooned at the GF. Saved all our pennies for 1 1/2 years so we could afford a lagoon view room (wanted the castle view). Upon check in they said we were upgraded to a suite!! :cool1: , and to have a great honeymoon. We were floored! It was bigger than our first apt :rotfl2: . Had a king bed, 2 bathrooms, entry room, living room, kitchen, tons of closets, those great bathrobes and 3 balconies and a PERFECT view of the castle! It was the Biscayne Suite in Sago Cay. LOVED IT!! I have to say it was one of the best "wedding gifts" we received.

I was upgraded last week from a studio to a one bedroom at the BCV. It was a one night stay, added at the last minute (well, a few days before) and staying on a cash reservation. It was a nice surprise!! I had booked a one BR for later in the week using DVC points, but don't know if that had anything to do with it.

On March 12, we were upgraded from All Stars Music to the Poly! We had a 4 night pre-paid reservation. I think All Stars Music was over-booked.
