Howdy from Texas!
My family just got back from Disneyland CA. My wife and 9yr old son managed to pick up over 100 new pins through trading. They are so hooked! Anyway, we have also been to Disneyworld, and were wondering what the other two parks (Paris & Tokyo) would be like for trading. Eventually Hong Kong will be an option to.

Can any of you more experienced traders tell us the best order for pin trading among the parks and cruise? My wife and son enjoy trading with the CMs more if that makes a differance. Any advice will help us to plan our future adventure! Thanks!!

I believe Tokyo Disneyland no longer has pin trading. I think the reason was the traders were a bit too fanitacal and aggressive with trading and buying pins. Also there are very little pins to choose from in Tokyo Disneyland outside from Tokyo Disney Stores.

Thanks Swamp_Fox
After reading your post, both my wife and son said Tokyo is off the list! hehe ;) We'll have to see if they bring it back there.
How does Disneyland Paris and the cruises compare to WDW & DL?

Because their are a lot fewer CM's on the ship than at the parks, pin trading isn't as much on the cruise. However, when you board all the CM's that great you in the atrium are wearing lanyards, so there are about 25 lanyards to greet you. Also, at the desks they wear lanyards pretty frequently, and in the shops. When they bring out the pin table with the special cruise pins (holiday LEs, leftover event pins) they also have a binder.

I also found a bunch of pins on the Wonder that were no longer for sale at the parks, so for a 3 or 4 day cruise attached to 5 or 7 WDW you definitely won't be pin trading deprived.

My 11 DS also got into pin trading when we went to WDW last Sept. We did the cruise after spending 4 days in WDW. My DS was a little upset that he had to cut his pin trading short. Little did he know. We did the 4 day Wonder cruise and they do bring out the pin trading table on the first night. DS was so happy, he started talking to the CM about pin trading and how he was just starting. Well, the CM asked to speak to us. I thought DS was being a pest. Well, she asked DS if he wanted to be a CM on the last night of the cruise. That is where the officers all come out to the atrium for pin trading. DS was given a laynard full of pins and he had to trade just like the CM's do. The officers were so nice to DS. That was the highlight of his trip.

So the answer to your question is yes, there is pin trading on the cruise. I also felt that Epcot was a better place for pin trading. Another thought, if you ever get to the Beach Club, there is an older gentleman who greats you at the door, he is known for his pin trading. He was a lot of fun to talk to.

Pin Trading at Disneyland Resort Paris is ok, but the cast members lanyards don't have a big variety of pins. You sometimes find older European pins though, which is great.

Sometimes it's not only a matter of where, but when.
Don't forget the Thursday night trading at the All Star Sports cafeteria and Friday night trading at the 4th fl of the Contemporary hotels. The waters are shark-infested at Downtown Disney Pin Traders store, so be careful.
Sunday also appears to be the best day to pin trade at EPCOT and DL.

And don't forget the Internet sites:
Dizpins for the latest pin news
Pinpics for trading pins over the Internet, when you can't get to the parks.
