I've learned that firsthand advice is much better than looking at a map or using mapquest. The route that looks the shortest may be a traffic nightmare. I would appreciate any advice on the following routes:

Tuesday around dinnertime: Sea World area to Boardwalk (Is I-drive south of the Beeline a no-no?) and approximate commute time

Sunday morning: Port Canaveral to Universal City Walk

Thanks so much! I really want to be a good navigator this time.

I love giving directions, but I can't help much here. I need a GOOD map in front of me first. It doesn't always help, but the alternative is scary:

"Keep going to the second light. Not the one that just blinks, unless it is turned off. Then go right to the 7-11. Don't turn there, keep on going to the third right turn. You will see a big tree..."

Give me a map, a good map, any day.

I-Drive south of the Beeline is usually wide open with just a couple of lights - definitely a great alternative to I-4 if you don't like driving on the highway. Just take I-Drive heading south from Sea World all the way to the end and turn right onto SR-536 following the signs for Disney. SR-536 will go straight onto WDW property. After going under the WDW welcome gates, take the 2nd exit for the Epcot Resort Area and follow the signs to the Boardwalk. Depending on where you start out from on I-Drive, it will probably take about 15 minutes.

Getting from the Port to City Walk, just take the Beeline to I-4 East and follow the signs for the Universal exit. Although you could get off the Beeline earlier, you'll have more traffic lights to contend with so staying on the highway will be quicker. Travel time should be about 45-60 minutes depending on how fast you travel. The speed limit on the Beeline is 70 mph until you get close to the airport and then slows to 55 mph between MCO and I-4; however, you can expect to see the average driver traveling faster than the posted speed limits. Bring money for tolls, there will be 1 toll of $1.25 and 2 tolls of $0.75.
