Best departure time from Long Beach to Carlsbad

We will be driving from Long Beach to Carlsbad to continue our vacation. What time (in the morning) would you suggest leaving to avoid the most traffic?

The drive is just a little over an hour. I would leave somewhere around 9 am to stay out of rush hour traffic. Long Beach is brutal on the 405.
