What are the tickets like? Are they like paper credit cards or something different?

The actual tickets you pick up from the disneyland customer service are the ones that you would buy at the front gate. They are the size of a credit card and are printed on paper. They print them out right and they have a barcode on them to scan. Like I said we did 5 day passes so we also got one magic morning entry into the park.
