Best day to visit Universal?

We will be in Orlando for spring break (March 28-April 4). My husband and stepson (19) are interested in visiting Universal one of those days. Is any day better/less crowded than another day? Do they need the park to park ticket or would a base ticket cover everything they want (thrill seekers/Harry Potter fans)?

If they want to see both HP areas and ride Hogwarts Express they will need park to park tickets.
