best day for Catalina and Hollywood?

We're looking at a Thursday and a Friday - any advice on which day would be better for Catalina and which would be better for Hollywood? We're traveling from DL, if that makes a difference. Decided not to go to Palm Springs for the sky tram but rather take a leisurely drive up the coast to our Monterey destination. Anyone think that's a huge mistake and we should put that back in our schedule? Thanks for everyone's help here, out trip is right around the corner and I've gotten so much help here!!
