BEST. DAY. EVER. May '17 w/Chunkymonkey and Chubbyhubby NEW 8/28 x2 THE END!!

Ack, I'm so behind! You are super quick with updating this one :rotfl2:

All caught up! Man, this thread is growing FAST!!

I'm so glad that I'm not the only one!

First thing I noticed as we walked out of Boardwalk was that it was warm...like very warm. It was forecast to hit 89 that day.

That's why we try not to travel there other than October through April. On our trip over Labor Day 2018, we may just enjoy the resort and go out at night to various bars and entertainment venues.

Look at all the fun merchandise! I bought myself the purple tank top and DH got a t-shirt.

I got the purple one too, and the pink T-shirt as well.

It's pretty cool how in the PP pics they put you in the topiary setting instead of just standing in front of it.

We got that same one too! By the time I get to that part of my report, F&W will have probably started! :lmao:

We walked back to World Showcase and headed to France so I could get myself a La Vie en Rose

That's an odd glass for that drink, they were in the tall glass when I ordered it.

Frushi: Fresh Pineapple, Strawberry and Melon rolled with Raspberry Coconut Rice, sprinkled with Toasted Coconut and Whipped Cream on the side – $5.75

I always wondered why I never tried this, Coconut rice....that's why.

Dragon Pearl: Beer, Honey, Cream and Tapioca Pearls – $8.75

It's an acquired taste for sure, but it does grow on you after a while.

Definitely acquired taste. I'm not a big fan of beer, and I can't imagine how it goes with the other ingredients.

Otherwise you can take one using your camera, but it's more fun when you're actually in the picture so it looks like you're flying!

I missed this, how totally cool!

I really do hope they keep Express Bus around for a long time because I am a fan.

Did they use the standard Disney buses? What I'm curious about is whether or not they have the handicapped accessible lifts....

Here was our lovely view from our table:

We had a similar view a year ago when we ate there, but it was pouring rain.

Next up was the combo platter with the appetizers and sides. Potstickers, noodles, vegetables, and wings.

We got ours separate, appetizers on one plate, sides on another. Maybe because we were a party of four? :confused3

We had to save some room for dessert, of course.

Of Course!

Boy, we were stuffed! We had to literally be rolled out of there.

That's the only way that you should leave O'Hana. If you aren't stuffed, you're not doing it right. Just like Palo!

Oooh is that bread pudding at breakfast only? We'll be eating at Boma for breakfast next weekend. Never been there at that time so I'm looking forward to all the offerings!

I'm not sure if it's only for breakfast, but it's the main reason I booked breakfast there at all, LOL!!

I actually almost missed it because it doesn't look like much sitting there on the buffet. The "bread" part is in a dish and then...here's the best part!...you add your own sauce. As much as you want! There's a praline sauce and a vanilla sauce for it. Use both!! It was amazing. It'll come up in my TR, but not until one of the later days, and you'll probably have eaten it already before I get to that part!

I love those little colorful patches of color in the water. I think this is the only time of year they do this?
Unfortunately, I think you're right! Although I guess it just makes it all the more special during that time :cloud9:

What a lovely meal at 'Ohana! My parents took my sisters and me to the Poly many, many years ago and we did the Luau dinner which was amazing, but I've never made it to 'Ohana... another must-do! :thumbsup2

‘Ohana Bread Pudding à la mode with Bananas-Caramel Sauce
No joke, this dessert is my signature dessert I make for every family holiday. I found the recipe on Allears forever ago and now it's the most highly requested dessert for my family. Thanks, Disney!

Let's see if I can get caught up here! First, you're lucky to be going back so soon! I'm having major DW withdrawal and I've got like 6 weeks to wait :sad2:

I didn't know how I would survive August with 15 people, half of whom are newbies. I think I will crawl into Haunted Mansion and pretend I'm a ghost. #whereischunkeymonkey

I'm already dreading the July heat also, it's like instant sweat as soon as you step outside. Like your HM idea.:teeth: But I think I'd rather be swearing at Disney than not sweating at home!

When we crossed over the bridge and into Epcot, there was no line for bag check, and the park was empty. Another point for early May!

Love the WS entrance into Epcot. Such an easy walk from the YC/BC and BW areas.

I am androgynous and DH is a trekkie. :)

:rotfl2:

At Japan I got my favorite Frushi

Yum!!

Help us, Mulan, you're our only hope!

I see what you did there. :rotfl:

Dragon Pearl: Beer, Honey, Cream and Tapioca Pearls – $8.75

That does sound weird. Interesting though

At Norway, I think DH went to the bathroom and so I got a Magic Shot!

So cute!

but it's more fun when you're actually in the picture so it looks like you're flying!

That is so cool!

When the bus was here we were escorted out to the backstage area where the bus was waiting. There are no pictures allowed here though. But basically we boarded a completely empty bus, waited a few minutes for any last minute stragglers, and then headed on to MK! At MK, the bus lets you off behind Buzz Lightyear in T

You're the first person I've read a report on this. So glad you thought it was worth it!

I don't think DH knows why I love this ride so much. It's just so awesome. It's like getting a tour of Tomorrowland and experiencing Space Mountain without actually

I LOVE the People mover. My kids think I'm crazy that I love it.

absolutely love the Polynesian

I love it when people find their "home" at DW. I think I'm still searching..

Here was our lovely view from our table:

Wow you got an awesome table!

Since we’ll all be back in August at the Poly, they can have this any time at the Tambu Lounge. Yay!

Yea is right!

Ohana Bread Pudding à la mode with Bananas-Caramel Sauce

This is the only bread pudding I will eat. So. Darn. Good.

We were offered a ride in the golf cart but decided to walk. While DD was being pampered I was relaxing in the GF listening to the piano player. I needed to stretch my legs and was surprised how quickly we got there. If you exit the spa turn right and follow the walkway there are signs posted.

Cool! I will have to remember that!

I'm so glad that I'm not the only one!

Haha, I know I'm updating fast but since we're leaving on our 2nd May trip this week I need to get a decent head start because it may be radio silence for a little while...:rolleyes1

That's why we try not to travel there other than October through April. On our trip over Labor Day 2018, we may just enjoy the resort and go out at night to various bars and entertainment venues.

Good idea!

I got the purple one too, and the pink T-shirt as well.

The pink t-shirt was cute too! I may have to get it next weekend...

We got that same one too! By the time I get to that part of my report, F&W will have probably started! :lmao:

Hahaha. I will be eagerly awaiting that post.

That's an odd glass for that drink, they were in the tall glass when I ordered it.

Yeah I think they ran out at that time because later on they had the tall glasses.

I always wondered why I never tried this, Coconut rice....that's why.

The coconut is not that strong though. I think it's just coconut flakes if I'm not mistaken.

Definitely acquired taste. I'm not a big fan of beer, and I can't imagine how it goes with the other ingredients.

It's a little weird but in a good way. I've actually never seen this drink in any Chinese establishment so this may be an At Disney Only thing. LOL.

I missed this, how totally cool!

It was really cool!

Did they use the standard Disney buses? What I'm curious about is whether or not they have the handicapped accessible lifts....

Yup they are standard buses, and definitely have the lifts!

We got ours separate, appetizers on one plate, sides on another. Maybe because we were a party of four? :confused3

We've gotten both ways before with just a party of 2 or 3. Either way, it was a lot of food!

That's the only way that you should leave O'Hana. If you aren't stuffed, you're not doing it right. Just like Palo!

Exactly!!

YUM Sooo looking forward to this! I will be sure to look out for the bread pudding! I don't know why or how but Disney does all kinds of bread puddings so well. I don't even normally order them outside of Disney.

Ugh, that bread pudding is seriously what dreams are made of!

Yup. Nuff said.

I already know this will be a fun update :)

:flower1::flower1::flower1:

Just found this TR - 8 pages - will save for tomorrow's reading.

Thanks for reading! It's mostly comments though, that's why I have the table of contents!

love this TR nice job.

Thank you so much!

Unfortunately, I think you're right! Although I guess it just makes it all the more special during that time :cloud9:

It does...I'm sold for springtime at Disney any year!

What a lovely meal at 'Ohana! My parents took my sisters and me to the Poly many, many years ago and we did the Luau dinner which was amazing, but I've never made it to 'Ohana... another must-do! :thumbsup2

Go make an ADR here...like, right now!

No joke, this dessert is my signature dessert I make for every family holiday. I found the recipe on Allears forever ago and now it's the most highly requested dessert for my family. Thanks, Disney!

YUM!! I will have to make said recipe. But just having it at Disney is just so much better!

Let's see if I can get caught up here! First, you're lucky to be going back so soon! I'm having major DW withdrawal and I've got like 6 weeks to wait :sad2:

I know...but after this trip, it's almost 3 months until my next trip! That's like waaaaay too long. Hahaha.

I'm already dreading the July heat also, it's like instant sweat as soon as you step outside. Like your HM idea.:teeth: But I think I'd rather be swearing at Disney than not sweating at home!

That's true! I'd much rather be a Disney during sucky weather!

Love the WS entrance into Epcot. Such an easy walk from the YC/BC and BW areas.

I love the Epcot resort area!

I see what you did there. :rotfl:

Hahaha, yay you recognized that!

That does sound weird. Interesting though

Yeah it's one of those things I had to satisfy a curiosity with, and now that it's satisfied I don't need to have it again for a while.

Thanks! It's such a cute shot!

You're the first person I've read a report on this. So glad you thought it was worth it!

Oh definitely. It makes park hopping such a breeze. LOVED it!

I LOVE the People mover. My kids think I'm crazy that I love it.

It's just so much fun and there's never a line so you're guaranteed a little to no wait!

I love it when people find their "home" at DW. I think I'm still searching..

LOL, the Poly IS your home now!!

This is the only bread pudding I will eat. So. Darn. Good.

YUM, you said it!

Our room was adorable! I thought it was very cute and I liked the coastal color scheme with the pop of red for color. I wish the bathroom had 2 sinks though and I thought the bathtub area could be a little bigger. But overall loved the room and the view. However, I do think the beds are a little to soft for me. (I like a firm with a pillow top, and I think these were all plush)

I loved the Boardwalk the one night we stayed there last May. The theming is totally my style.

Here's one I took on my own camera. I don't know why the one from the PP photographer looks so washed out. I think his flash was too bright and the angle in which he was shooting at did not show the 3-D effect of the graphics that well.

‘Ohana Bread Pudding à la mode with Bananas-Caramel Sauce
All of your food from Ohana looks delicious especially this bread pudding. Yum!!!

Wow already 8 pages in :earseek:

Side note: maybe because United is hurting for some business but I was offered an upgrade us to first class on our departing flight for a very good price so I took it.

Awesome that you got to upgrade to first class!

I just wanted a bite to eat, and we ended up sharing a breakfast bowl from Mo’s Southwest grill.

We have a Moe's and it doesn't offer breakfast (as far as I know). That's cool that some of them do. It sounds like it would be tasty.

When we opened the doors to the balcony we were greeted with this view. Pretty cool to see Tower of Terror from your room!

Love the view!

And the scary clown water slide...but I tried to ignore that part.

Except that part of it :rotfl:

I think I will crawl into Haunted Mansion and pretend I'm a ghost. #whereischunkeymonkey

Good idea :thumbsup2

As we were leaving Mexico we saw that Donald was meeting so we got in a short line. Hola Donald!

We got to meet Donald in Mexico for the first time this trip too! Actually I think it was right after we saw you!

We came across this drawing on the floor. It looked like chalk but it was more permanent than chalk. It was drawn so that the images were skewed but when you take a picture of it, it gives the illusion they are 3-D and floating. There was a PP Photographer here at this time but it was probably one of the few times we saw one here. Otherwise you can take one using your camera, but it's more fun when you're actually in the picture so it looks like you're flying!

I can't even wrap my brain around this....I stared at this picture for far too long. So cool!

When the bus was here we were escorted out to the backstage area where the bus was waiting. There are no pictures allowed here though. But basically we boarded a completely empty bus, waited a few minutes for any last minute stragglers, and then headed on to MK! At MK, the bus lets you off behind Buzz Lightyear in Tomorrowland, and then a CM meets the bus backstage, escorts us into MK, and that was it. EASY PEASY. No bag check, not waiting to scan your band/ticket. Quickest park hop ever! Now I'm spoiled. This is the REAL Magical Express! I really do hope they keep Express Bus around for a long time because I am a fan.
Great to hear about this! I was definitely considering this for our next trip, but at this point, we're planning to have a car, so probably won't use it. (Maybe, we'll see how our final plans turn out). But normally, when we are dependent upon Disney transportation for park-hopping, this sounds awesome!

I don't think DH knows why I love this ride so much. It's just so awesome. It's like getting a tour of Tomorrowland and experiencing Space Mountain without actually having to ride it!
This must be how you can tell the difference between a regular Disney guest and a DIS-board level guest...love of the Peoplemover! :thumbsup2

Hi! I'm loving this TR (and all your TRs) but, I have to say, I CAN'T WAIT to follow along when you get back from your big family trip in August. I JUST (like just today) got the go-ahead from the fam that we're good to go on a family trip for 2019 (when SWland opens, obviously).

We had to save some room for dessert, of course. No matter how full you are, I cannot tell you how many times we’ve polished off this dessert. My sisters cannot want to dig into this again. It was their favorite thing they ate on our sisters trip in 2011. Since we’ll all be back in August at the Poly, they can have this any time at the Tambu Lounge. Yay!

‘Ohana Bread Pudding à la mode with Bananas-Caramel Sauce

Hello glorious banana foster bread pudding! I don't even need the banana sauce on the bread pudding. I just eat some of the banana chunks in it.

You had a great view from your table.
Seriously, that bread pudding is indeed glorious! I will have to make a special trip to the Tambu Lounge just for this! :worship:

Thanks for sharing your experience at Ohana! I've got an ADR for my first meal there but I was thinking of cancelling it since we went with the QS DP. But now I think I'll keep it on there! Everything looked so yummy! Plus we are going to Hawaii for the first time in November so it'll be like a preview ;)

I loved the Boardwalk the one night we stayed there last May. The theming is totally my style.

I loved it too! It was so elegant and whimsical.

I've never seen it in that kind of glass before

They ran out of the tall glasses, but they replenished them later on as I saw people with the tall martini glasses.

I like that subtle Star Wars reference!

Hehe...:)

I saw these from farther away, but I didn't realize that's what they were. That's so cool!

It is! Definitely gonna see it it's still there this coming weekend.

All of your food from Ohana looks delicious especially this bread pudding. Yum!!!

soooo delicious! I love it!

Wow already 8 pages in :earseek:

Welcome back!! Haha, yeah I've been a posting machine...it will slow down in a few days though when we go back, then I'll have to reorganize all my thoughts again!

Awesome that you got to upgrade to first class!

Yeah, it was just a one time thing. I don't anticipate a cheap upgrade again.

We have a Moe's and it doesn't offer breakfast (as far as I know). That's cool that some of them do. It sounds like it would be tasty.

I've never been to a Moe's before but it was pretty tasty! at least for breakfast.

Love the view!

Except that part of it :rotfl:

I wonder why people thought it would be good to put a clown there...

We got to meet Donald in Mexico for the first time this trip too! Actually I think it was right after we saw you!

That's so cute! I love meeting Donald!

I can't even wrap my brain around this....I stared at this picture for far too long. So cool!

It's really neat!! It must be new for this year as I have not seen it before.

Great to hear about this! I was definitely considering this for our next trip, but at this point, we're planning to have a car, so probably won't use it. (Maybe, we'll see how our final plans turn out). But normally, when we are dependent upon Disney transportation for park-hopping, this sounds awesome!

It's great if you like a lot of park hopping and want it to be as convenient as possible.

This must be how you can tell the difference between a regular Disney guest and a DIS-board level guest...love of the Peoplemover! :thumbsup2

Sooo true!!!

Thank you so much! Haha I was floored when my family agreed to do Disney this year. I have been asking them to go for the longest time. I made them all put down deposits for rooms and tickets just so I knew they were serious then the fun part of planning, like meals and stuff, could begin!

You had a great view from your table.

It's just so good and why I return to 'Ohana again and again.

Thanks for sharing your experience at Ohana! I've got an ADR for my first meal there but I was thinking of cancelling it since we went with the QS DP. But now I think I'll keep it on there! Thanks for reading! Oh don't cancel Ohana! It's just so good and so much fun. Oooh Hawaii, my favorite place! Check out my blog www.asplashofaloha.com for some trip reports on Hawaii. It's absolutely amazing there.

Finally caught up! Also just realized we'll be at the world at the same time. My dates are Oct 28-Nov 4th

Oooh awesome! I'm so excited to be there at that time! I booked the MNSSHP for Nov 1st, which is our anniversary :)
I didn't want to pay the premium to actually go on Halloween so we're just going to have a nice dinner somewhere, LOL.

A giant message, because my original one got deleted :headache:

Here he is fan-boying over Gaston:

I started reading your TR the other night and Df was next to me. He was like, I know them! I know that guy, you showed me his shirt! I had to break it to him, that was your half marathon TR :rotfl:

I didn’t know whether to laugh or be mad. I paid for first class and I didn’t even get to use the first class facilities.
I mean... there's usually like 8 seats in first class. How did she miss you??? :confused3

We got ready, checked out, and headed down to the food court. I just wanted a bite to eat, and we ended up sharing a breakfast bowl from Mo’s Southwest grill. It was huge! More than enough food for DH and I. It had scrambled eggs, cheese, taco beef, salsa and some jalepenos and sour cream. Tasty!

DF was very disappointed when I told him this wasn't at a Disney restaurant  It looks really good!

Of course when it was our turn to check in, I get a call from V and A. So I had DH check in while I nodded or shook my head at him because since he didn’t do the planning he had no idea which side we were staying on (Inn or Villa. We were Villa). They fortunately had a room ready right then, so yay!

This is us every time, because I do all the planning too. God forbid I have to use the bathroom or anything, because then we have to wait until I'm back to check in.

Our room was adorable! I thought it was very cute and I liked the coastal color scheme with the pop of red for color.
And the scary clown water slide...but I tried to ignore that part. Hahaha. #PoltergeistFears :clown:
I love the look of the boardwalk, except that dang slide. Why? Couldn't they have stuck with the coaster theme for the slide, and just had a smaller scary clown instead?

I think I will crawl into Haunted Mansion and pretend I'm a ghost. #whereischunkeymonkey
:rotfl2:

La Vie en Rose Frozen Slush: Grey Goose Vodka Orange, St. Germain Liquor, White and Red Cranberry Juice – $9.95
Mmmmm... I think I might like this better than the normal slushies... shhh...
Shrimp and Stone-ground Grits with Andouille Sausage, Sweet Corn , Tomatoes and Cilantro – $6.50
This looks really good too! I must go to F&G! :goodvibes
Such a cool photo op!

When we arrived in MK we decided to head straight to Gaston's Tavern. Fortunately, Gaston was out meeting and greeting! Unfortunately they closed the line at that time. The next and last time he would come back out I think we'd be at dinner, so no Gaston today. However we did stay and watch some of the interaction, and it was so funny. I especially loved this one where a little infant basically couldn't stop touching Gaston's chest. Like his bare chest. It was a riot. Gaston got a kick out of it.
 We watched Gaston meet people for almost half an hour. We should have jumped in line! But his interactions are hilarious.

When the bus was here we were escorted out to the backstage area where the bus was waiting. There are no pictures allowed here though. But basically we boarded a completely empty bus, waited a few minutes for any last minute stragglers, and then headed on to MK! I really do hope they keep Express Bus around for a long time because I am a fan.

I think we might spring for this in September, even though we haven't necessarily planned much park hopping at this point.

I don't think DH knows why I love this ride so much. It's just so awesome. It's like getting a tour of Tomorrowland and experiencing Space Mountain without actually having to ride it!
The Peoplemover was one of my very favorite things when we went in January. I don't even know how many times we rode it, because one of us would just be like, the Peoplemover? And away we went! :teleport:
