Having never eaten quick service in the world I need opinions.
What is your favorite Counter Service meal in Disney World (having a fish or vegetarian option is a requirement.)

Also, would you eat at your favorite CS or go to the Plaza? (Since according to AllEars the prices are only slightly higher.)

Please understand... this question is asked EVERY DAY ! So some folks tire of it...

THat being said....

My FAVORITE CS in MK is:

(drum roll please)

Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe...

Hey if someone wants to point me in the right direction I would be happy to go look at other threads but frankly my search fu stinks.

I know there has to be more on here then 1 post about Food and Wine, but that was all I could find (if that gives you an idea... a 3 year old with a 56 k modem could out search me on the dis.) Hence my post here.

Meanwhile - what about Starlight do you love? And would you choose that over the Plaza?

And thank you for responding :yay:

I agree with Cosmic Ray's but you need to remember that you should pick a restaurant that has items to your own personal preference, and the best way to do that is to take a look at the menus at www.allears.net.

I'll look through them I promise, but a menu is different then first hand reports from those who have actually experienced the food (flavor), the service (how slow are they are they friendly?), the atmosphere... these are things I can't get from a menu... and since most of the restaurant reviews out there are for TS, I thought the Dis was the right place to ask for a little first hand information.

I usually do Cosmic Ray or Pecos Bills for counter service at MK
I haven't been to the plaza in a long time
I will have to look for that again sometime for a lunch -
As suggested above I defiantly would check out the menu's at Debs site

I understand, it's just that everyone has different tastes, and what some people love, others can't stand. :rotfl: Experiences and service can change with the crowds, and the seasons, so if some have a great experience and others have a bad experience it's really difficult to say what your experience will be. I'm just sayin that you'll hear both, and the best way is to just take a look at the menus, then dive in, try them out, and come away with your own experience. :thumbsup2

Columbia Harbour House! It fits with your fish and veggie requirement well.
They have fried fish, fried shrimp, a tuna sandwich, and a vegetarian sandwich with hummus, tomato, and broccoli slaw.

I like the fried fish and tuna sandwich a lot.

I've never been to the Plaza so I can't say.

Thanks everyone for your input...
Rays seems to be the big winner - but I'm still wandering what puts it on top?
(Having not eaten there I'm not disagreeing, I'm just wondering what makes it special to those in the know.)

My fave is Columbia Harbour House - love their chicken/fish combo :thumbsup2 They do a mean tuna sandwich too and you can get fish or chicken separate - you don't have to have the combo.

You mentioned the Plaza, I notice - just thought I'd point out that is not a Counter Service, in case you weren't aware. And although it's not an expensive TS, it certainly is more costly than CS in my opinion. It really depends on whether you want a short break for you and your family to eat or whether you want a good, long break at a TS restaurant. We have eaten at the Plaza twice and neither time was particularly fast.

A quick cost analysis (if AllEars can be trusted here) showed that prices are actually only a dollar or two more then Columbia Harbor House.
I think I'm leaning towards CHH can you give me any tips on things like seating and such?

CHH has a fair bit of seating downstairs but lots more upstairs and never have I seen it completely full. It is quite dark but lovely and cool inside.

We LOVE the taco salad @ El pirata , if its not open get it inside at Pecos Bills. Wonderfully refreshing, and you can doll it up as much as you want at the fixin's bar. We do this a couple of times each trip, particularly when it's hot!

Love Columbia Harbor House and the upstairs seating is great and I try not to mention that one too much cause it is nice and peaceful upstairs without being crowded.

Another vote for Columbia Harbour House. The food is nice and I love how quiet it is upstairs.

Cosmic Ray's is my favorite: lots of variety on the menu & good amount of indoor seating. I have never had either, but there is a vegetarian burger & veggie wrap at Ray's. Columbia Harbor House is also very good - and there would be lots of good fish options for you there + also good amount of indoor seating.

The problem is you will get first hand reports that completely contradict each other for the same place. Our favorite CS at MK is Cosmic Ray's, they have tons of choices, good food (we've always been happy with it), and plenty of seating.

Thanks guys I think we're going to go with CHH - and we'll grab a seat upstairs thanks to tips from the wonderful people here.
