The Mara-AKL, delicious options, not the normally everyday stuff either
Art of Animation food court-BEST, so many choices, so many options, lots of customize-able dishes too!
French Quarter-worth it for the beignets
Earl of Sandwich-ds

The Mara is worth traveling to. It has a few interesting African choices, as well as some nice soups and very good flatbreads. For picky eaters, they have a very tasty hamburger and a pepperoni flatbread. Some people love the zebra domes. No one in my family is a big fan, but they are fun to try for the first time nevertheless.

I always think AKL is worth visiting. It is a gorgeous and unique resort.

And Mara has the BEST soup ever-their butternut squash soup. I was told by the CMs that it comes from the same pot in the kitchen as for Boma, but somehow I still think it tastes better at Mara-maybe it's the lower cost that makes it more appealing!

Since when? It's still showing as accepting the DDP on the WDW website. I'm fairly certain it is still on the DDP.

Is it? I thought I remember in January they mentioned it was no longer on the DDP? I remember there being rumors swirling that it was being removed (which wouldn't surprise me as it's the best value)... if it's still on there then I'm pleasantly surprised!

This happens every year. WDW releases info on the DDP for the coming year before the contracts with the non-Disney owned restaurants are finalized. They don't list the restaurants that don't have finalized contracts. Someone will see the list and post that X, Y, and Z restaurants are no longer accepting the plan. Posters who haven't experienced this will worry, but those that have been around for years know it is just a temporary thing and that most, if not all, the restaurants on the plan the year before will be again. In the 9 years I've been here on the DIS, there's maybe been one or two restaurants that actually stopped accepting the DDP. You just have to wait for the final list to be released.

I like the Boardwalk bakery for sandwiches, Earl of Sandwich, and Pop has a nice set-up, too :)

I agree with AtlantaDisneyDre! You could make a very nice time out of visiting AKL for lunch. There are plenty of animal viewing areas, both off the lobby, and beyond the pool area. And the food is great! Make sure you get Zebra Domes from the cold cases.... yummmm!
