Best counter service meal?

We enjoyed the CS place in Morocco in Epcot. The portions were large, so we could share, too.

Yes! I forgot about the Tangerine Cafe! They are AWESOME. A little on the expensive side for CS, but sooooo good.

The coucous tangerine salad is incredible.

We really enjoyed the Cantina de San Angel (Mexico at Epcot). We got 3 kids's meals (3.99 each) of a chicken/chesse quesadila, chips and cheese and a small drink and it was yummy (no one said it was healthy though! ;) ) It was plenty for us for lunch and it was a beautiful day to sit by the lake!

Oh, and you have to go to the Bakerie (sp?) in Norway. It's worth it to make a meal out of one of their desserts! Try the raisin filled pretzel with vanilla icing and sliced almonds or the strawberry cheesecake. Not cheap, but worth every penny! :thumbsup2

What a great response! :thumbsup2 Definitely taking notes from this. Will be sure not to miss Pecos Bill's burgers, with 2 teen boys I can't aford the signature dining.

Tusker House or Pecos Bill's. And not sure if it was mentioned, did not read all of thread, but if you do not want items, such as cheese on your burger or fries, you can ask for without, and they do charge less. They do list on the menus the 'full package' so to speak, but you can order withouts.

My picks for Counter Service:

AK--Flame Tree BBQ
DTD--Earl of Sandwich; Ghirardelli's (for a female sundae)
Epcot--Electric Umbrella (FW); Yakitori House, Japan (WS), Tangerine Cafe, Morocco (WS)
MGM--probably ABC Commissary
MK--Columbia Harbor House. I too am sorry to see the clam chowder in a breadbowl be discontinued.
Resorts--Colonel Mills at Port Orleans Riverside. Their cajun prime rib sandwich, which I had on December 3, 2003 when touring the moderate resorts, was amazing!

I'm a big fan of Pecos Bill's, but we ate at the Columbia Harbor House this past July, and I was impressed with the food (Clam Chowder was great), and the fact that so few people were eating in there.

The CS at the Land is fantastic -- fresh, made to order, great variety

Okay, I'm compiling a list for my friend who's going in about a month. Here's what I have so far....Any more details and/or additions? [I should say this is based on the posts in this thread!]

We ALWAYS stop at the Harbour House! Our youngest loves the mac&cheese while our older daughter and I always share the fish strips. This is a nice change from the usual chicken fingers. We try to get a seat upstairs off to the side where you can view both Liberty Square on one side and Fantasyland on the other. It's a tradition for us to take a break up there and relax away from the crowds.

MK: I like Peco Bill's and El Piratya. Cosmic Rays is Ok too

Epocot: Big fan of the Cantina at Mexico and the food court in the Land is great.

MGM: Bring a sandwich

DAK: The two best CS at WDW (which is good considering your TS options). Flame Tree is my personal fave. Tusker House is good too.

I also love Pinocchio's Village Haus since they changed their menu a few years ago. They have an antipasto salad that I love. I'm also a fan of their cannolis. Upstairs there's a balcony with about 7 tables, mostly tables for 2, and there's an outside balcony you can sit on. Although I haven't gone outdoors yet, I've sat upstairs several times, where it's quiet, overlooking the main dining hall. I just took my shoes off, put my feet up, and sipped my iced tea while watching the hub-bub below. One time, Fantasyland Sax was performing and I had a perfect, unobstructed seat. I'm anxious to try the outside next time, if the weather's cooler.

That's a great list you have for your friend! I would just add that at Wolfgang Puck Express, they serve the food to you!! Not only is the food fresh and delicious, you order, find a seat and they will bring it to you and clean up too!!! We do usually clean our own mess, but sometimes the waitors are so fast and do it for us, then we will tip them.

As for our favorite CS places:
MGM: We really haven't found any we like here! We always eat at TS places!

AK: We didn't go there on our last trip and the last time we went we ate at the RFC which was really good!

Epcot: We love the Sunshine Seasons in the Land. As was said before, the food is fresh, and really good. They have a huge variety and not the usual burgers and fries! Here's a link to their menu:
http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/men_ssff.htm

MK: Casey's does have really good hotdogs. Again, MK is another place where we usually eat TS, not big fans of the CS places.

DtD: Definately Wolfgang Puck Express!!! Here's their menu:
http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menu_wpe.htm
The portions are big and the food is soooo yummy!!!

DH favorite CS hands down is the Fish and Chips place in the UK at Epcot! He loves it and no trip is complete until he gets the fish and chips there!!!

My 3yo DS loves the McD's nuggets you can get at Epcot!!!LOL
My 8yo DD favorite CS is the McD's fries you can get at Epcot and MK!!!
I guess it's a treat for them since we never eat that stuff at home! ;)

Great thread! :thumbsup2

I've taken notes and printed some info. :)

My head is still spinning with all these decisions to make.

Cool as I will have to be sure to print what you have just put together. I have been taking some notes as well as I think I'll be at Deisney about the same time as your friend as this willbe our first trip there

On my last trip we ate at Backlot Express in MGM for the first time. My grilled Turkey & Cheese sandwich on multigrain bread was absolutely yummy! The sandwich and fries were extremely hot and very tasty. Probably my best CS meal on that trip. It was our first time eating there and I was surprised at the large seating area.
