Best Connection Rate from YYZ to MCO?

We live in Toronto and don't have a car, so flying out of Buffalo is not an option for us.

So I'm thinking the second best thing (fare-wise) is to fly a connection flight out of YYZ with either Delta or US Airways.

We are planning our next trip for December and have been watching fares for a couple of months. So far, Delta looks to have the best deal at $292/per person (on Expedia).

I don't have a sense of whether this is a good fare or not, since we took a direct flight for our first WDW trip. Should I go ahead and book at $292/pp or will it come down a little more if I wait it out a little longer?

Any advice and insights would be very much appreciated! :goodvibes

I think you might be better off checking the individual airline sites. Most of the US carriers fly into Buffalo but the popular ones seem to be Southwest and AirTran. If you go to their websites, you can get email notification of any specials that come up. I'll be flying from BUF to MCO in July and the total cost is only US $1200 for 4 adults and 2 children. Plus we'll be returning from Ft. Lauderdale. There are better prices out there but you'll have to look for them.

Thank you, Beth. But we are unable to fly out of Buffalo and would need to fly out of YYZ. (By the time we rent a car and make the trip to BUF, the savings for two adults is not worthwhile.)

I have checked Delta's site directly and it is a little less than Expedia. But I'm still wondering if it's possible that Delta's current price may drop - and if it has known to drop.

As I mentioned before, I've never looked into the connection flight fares before and don't know if $288/pp (on the Delta site) is a good deal or not.

A good site we've found to check for fares is www.kayak.com

Have you looked at flights on sunwing.ca? They usually come out with some great sale fares. We got direct on Westjet last October for 330 PP return. Connection flights are not always cheaper!!

Hi Dianna, thanks for the tips!

We would fly Sunwing, but we had a really terrible experience with them the last time on a number of issues and would prefer not to fly with them. We are also looking to fly out on a Thursday and back on a Wednesday and Sunwing's schedules won't allow us to do that.

I've also been checking Kayak, too. So far, the prices are comparable to Expedia - particularly with the exchange rate right now.

But I was curious about the Westjet deal you got... $330/pp is great! And I really enjoyed flying Westjet. How far in advance was the seat sale for your October trip?

Thanks again!

We booked in April/May for our October trip - you just have to be vigilant and watch for the deals to come out - I checked daily until I got a rate I was willing to pay!

I downloaded "Get Set" from the WestJet site and get the specials for Toronto to Orlando popping up on my computer when they are posted. You choose where you are interested in flying to and from which airport. I chose from Hamilton or Toronto to Orlando. I've seen specials as low as $49.00 each way (before taxes, etc.) I'm itching to go but I think the soonest I'll be able to will be Feb. 2008. Go to www.westjet.com and choose WestJet guest from the pull-down menu choose JetMail & Get Set. Follow the instructions for downloading Get Set. I also have them e-mail me any specials. Thursdays seem to be the day that certain specials come out but I had a Get Set pop up yesterday afternoon for $114.00 (before taxes, etc.) Toronto to Orlando, you had to fly by June 27.
Another place is www.travelalerts.ca . I saw a $29.00 to Orlando special there a few weeks ago. They will e-mail you with regular specials.

Hope this helps.

I've been checking the different sites everyday, but maybe I need to sit tight a little longer for any deals in early December.

I'm on a Mac and was having problems with Get Set before, but I will definitely look into it again to see if Westjet has ironed out their Mac software. It would be great to have it work!

Maryann ~ Thanks for the link to Travelalerts. I am going to sign up for the email alert and add it to my list of sites to check out daily!

My laptop at home isn't a Mac and I had problems with their program conflicting with mine. It kept freezing everything up. Finally I had to delete it altogether.

I booked a flight from yyz to mco for next March 08 and it was through Itravel2000, One hour layover in cincinatti. I thought at the time (a few weeks ago)it was a great deal (297.00)CAD return. Delta
Well I now know it was a great price because it seems the price for the same flights is 1,216.67 as of last night,(travelocity.ca).I was shocked :scared1: .
I know others have suggested that Buf is a great alternative airport but as I travel solo frequently I don;t like driving to BUF by myself and hate asking family to drive and pick me up.
I'd keep an eye on the delta web site and am sending you pixiedust: .
Hugs Mel

Beth ~ I downloaded the Get Set software yesterday and it immediately froze my computer!! ARRRRR... off to the trash it went! I guess I'll just have to keep checking the website.

Mel ~ I will keep an eye on Delta, but I think I will sit tight for a little bit longer to get my flight. I think $297 is a good price - especially out of YYZ. But I'm feeling inspired by the possibility of a direct flight for $300+, which might be a possibility for early December. Fingers crossed! And thanks for the dust!! :)
