For quite some time now, I've been looking for good pants for my daughter- who just turned 6. She's SUPER tall and SUPER skinny. All pants that fit her in the waist are too short, all pants that are long enough are too big in the waist. I know others have this problem, what do you do???

I've tried the jeans from gap, children's place- the ones that have the adjustable waist- she doesn't like the buttons and straps inside they rub on her skin and she's uncomfortable.

I really hate to spend too much on pants and jeans on her, because she's growing so fast, I just don't know what to do. I've taken her to the kids second hand store in our area quite a bit- so she can try them on and make sure they'll be comfy and fit her...we've gotten 2 pairs there that seem to work-

I've tried getting her the 'skinny' jeans, but they still seem to be too short...

My DD6 is also very tall and very skinny. And she HATES jeans and really hates any pants with buttons or snaps in general. I found a bunch of leggings with long matching tunic tops at Kohls, so we have bunches of those that she wears with her knock off Uggs from Target. She also likes the velour pants and zip up jackets from Target and JCP and we get cute shirts to go under. She also likes the cotton stretchy pants from Target that they carry in every color. She is all about comfort. She prefers dresses and if she could, she'd be in a sundress every day. Not real practical given where we live, but we moved here from New Orleans and she doesn't quite "get" winter and cold weather yet ;)

Good luck to you. The pants wearing is a daily battle in this house!

She sounds just like my little DD6! She'd wear dresses every day if she could! AND, she's all about comfort. My daughter has been asking me to get her some 'fashion boots' so maybe I'll have to look into doing leggings and boots for her. Last pair of leggings I got her were from Walmart and they didn't wash up well...I love Target, and I can't believe I didn't think of leggings from there!

Thanks!

I just bought leggins from Land's End at Sears. They had 60% off. The pants actually look short ont he rack, but fit my daughter to a T and went to her ankles. I paid 3.50 a piece. They also had the dresses/top that went with them for $7.00. Mine would wear dresses everyday as well but I figured for school next year it would be good to get the leggins. I have also had good luck with the leggins from Gymboree. I find the length of the pants from Gymboree are great and wash well.

We are in the same boat....7, tall and very thin. Only jeans that have ever worked...are Justice, slip, SUPER skinny. THey only make them in certain styles. They run tight. My daughter can wear these in a 7. All other jeans and clothes, she can wear a 4! Also, old navy has a super skinny with an adjustable waist (justice has no adjustable waist). The old navy do not fit as food as the justice but are workable. At justice her size is 7 slip, super skinny.

DD11 is skinny and has long legs. She wore leggings until she was about 8.

Granddaughter will be 3 in a couple of weeks, and is very tall and skinny for her age. (So are her parents!) I sent her a pair of 3T jeans from local $$$$$ kids' store for Christmas - way too short! Luckily, they fit her BFF! I found a pair of 4T skinny jeans at Baby Gap and they fit her perfectly. However, the waist fit is too wide, but they ride on her hips and she just pulls them down and back up during (ahem) toilet time, so she never bothers with the snap/zipper. She has to wear 4 (not 4T) tops just for the length. This search for jeans-that-fit has become a Quest! Leggings are the norm for her these days.

It doesn't get any better....lol. My DD10 also has a "thing" about stuff around her waist. I would say 95% of her clothing is from Kohls or Target. When I find a pair of pants or leggings that she likes, I buy every color that they have.

The struggle we have every morning now is about socks & shoes. She lives in sandals and flip-flops as soon as it is warm enough. Every day I have to hear about how she HATES wearing socks.....yes, honey, I know but it is 30 degrees outside.

have you looked at hanna andersson?

They are not "cheap", but their clothes are high quality and last forever. My friend only dresses her tall skinny child in their clothes, and makes back a good bit of money reselling the clothes. She also frequently looks at their outlet stores.

I have some of their adult clothes, unfortunately I am not long and super skinny :rotfl:

Oh, I feel your pain! We lived in a cold weather state where kids were born and bred! My oldest insisted on wearing a blue floor-length summer sleeveless dress (she wore for a July wedding), red Mary Janes with no socks, and a Burger King cardboard crown for every pre-school day. I let her do it a few times until she initiated her own wardrobe change.....moon boots instead of the mary janes, and a turtleneck under the dress. Took forever to ditch the BK crown, though! Talk about fashion backward!

haha. Me too!!! I soooooooo miss school uniforms. Even the public schools down south wear uni's and man does it make life easier![/b][/color]

DD8 is like this as well. She doesn't really like leggings either though, just comfy pants. I've found a few pairs at Justice (you'll just need her to try them on) and a lot of luck at Boden (online). Most in her size still have tie waists so I can make them tighter and the quality is great.

Just so you know ... the "T" sizing is wider in the butt to accommodate diapers so if you can get just a "4" you will have a better fit in the waist for a potty trained child. Also, my skinny 10-year old DD never bothers with the zipper and snaps on her jeans ... she just pulls them on. Luckily she doesn't mind the adjustable waist or we would be in trouble!

OP, have you tried Sears? IIRC their Canyon River Blues brand comes in a skinny size.

Gymboree makes really cozy, comfy slim cut leggings for girls, have you tried those? We have an outlet in town and they usually have a good selection. Or you can buy them on Gymboree.com. We also have luck with Target leggings, but I always buy a size up to accomodate shrinking in the wash.

Hanna Andersson, like a PP said, is wonderful quality and will last forever.

Dd8 (almost 9) and dd7 do well in Justice slims (I use the 40% off coupon). Dd8 is wearing 7 slims, but might need to go up to 8 slims for length. They don't have the waist adjusters.

This is my DD7. I think we're down to 2 pairs of Levi's that she'll wear, everything else is pants, NOT jeans. Everyday she asks me if it's warm enough yet to wear a dress and a flip-flops. It snowed last week and she still asked. She really likes the yoga style soft pants (think hers came from Target) and leggings.

I've been scouring ebay for lands end stuff, but may have to bite the bullet and get it from the website; it's not saving me any money to buy clothes she won't wear. We checked out the local Sears last weekend, but this is a college town and the children's section was almost non-existant.

Gymboree also sells "slim" versions of the same pants they sell in regular if you go online.

You are all so lucky you have dds- they can wear leggings! Ds is a tiny, thin guy. He can only wear slim jeans with the adjustable waist all the way tightened!

I have a skinny and tall 7yo. She also hates jeans and pants with waistbands. She wears leggings most of the time. I just buy cute tops and sweaters to go with them and she is good to go. She also LOVES dresses.
