Okay, kind of a weird question.

What is the best clothing for men to wear in the August Florida heat? My fiance normally wears T-shirts, but our weather doesn't get nearly as hot as Florida. He's not entirely comfortable with the idea of wearing a tank top, although I'm going to try to get him to try those sleeveless T-shirts. Are regular T-shirts okay to wear in the heat, or will he feel too constricted and sweaty?

My DH found these T-shirts he loves at Old Navy. They are really thin and they don't cost alot. He also wears really thin material swimming trunks. Hope this helps.

My DH wears thin cotton short sleeved button down shirts from Aeropostale and Old Navy shirts and shorts that come down to his knees. He says that their clothes are light and keeps him cool. T-Shirts do the trick too.

Please no tank tops or sleeveless t-shirts. I know it's a terrible double standard, but I just hate the sleeveless look on men.

LOL

We usually go in July or August and my husband wears jean shorts and loose fitting t-shirts. We are from NY and not used to quite that much heat and humidity but he seems to do better than I do wearing sleeveless shirts.

DH loves to wear polo shirts with the collar on them...I try to buy him micro-fiber ones...I get them at Kohls and Penneys. I watch the sales and can get them for $20-$25 or so...he finds them much cooler than tshirts or regular cotton polos. When we are going on vacation I usually get him a few and try to go with lighter colors. Just an idea!

Good luck and have fun!

We are from Florida and my DH swears by the silk shirts. He says that the silk shirt is much cooler than cotton t-shirts.

you can find really good work out shirts at local Big 5's GI JOES or anyother sporting good stores that are good for men in extreme heat.

Please anything but a sleeveless shirt. All that hair hanging out.:rotfl:

Whatever they are (and I too hope they're not sleeveless), make sure they're light colored! The color can matter even more than the type of material in that sun.

Being a DH, I can tell you that Gap T-shirts are really heavy weight. Too heavy for me in the Northeast in the summer! Sleeveless are ok - just shave that back guys! No more gorillas running around WDW, PLEASE!:teeth:

*L* I see the sleeveless look isn't too popular. ;) :teeth:

Thanks for the advice! We'll try to buy some more light material, light coloured shirts.

DH (who is hot all the time!!) wears light short sleeve button down shirts. They are actually very cool, and it's a nice look! He can wear them without an undershirt of anything underneath. You can find them at Banana Republic, Express for Men, Gap, Old Navy, etc. We got some for our HM last year, and he still wears them all the time. For bottoms, khaki shorts work out really well, and then sandals too.
Whatever you do, try to stay away from tank tops!!!

My DH preffers shorts, cargo style (lots of pockets), and a tank, or short sleeve. He wont be caught without his hip/ fanny pouch::yes::

The best top is a cotton t-shirt for men. My DH actually took a liking to a Mickey Tank Top and still wears it to cut grass and do yard work. He's Italian so he just goes a lovely shade of brown and I, his Darling English wife just burns and peels, burns and peels.

Anyway last time we were there my husband packed several pairs of nylon/polyester shorts. You know the type they look like swimsuits with the mesh insert (he usually cuts this out). Well after spending one day at the Magic Kindgom we took a drive down to WalMart where he decided to buy 2 pairs of cotton cargo shorts. I told him the nylon ones would be uncomfortable in the heat (it was 107 Deg. at 8 a.m. when we drove in to the park in early Aug.) but you know how it is they have to experience it first hand to realize that their Darling Spouses are right!

The VERY VERY BEST shirt for men and women to wear are the Under Armour t-shirts. These are worn under any regular shirt.
My husband swears by them. We visited Disney in Late May and the weather was 88 to 91. These shirts soak up the sweat away from your body keeping your outside shirt completly dry.

My husband get hot very easily and these shirts were well worth the money. They can be found at any sporting good store.

He aslo wore cargo shorts, the kind that dry quickly.:earsgirl:

Okay, If my husband knew I posted this he would kill me, so it's just between us Okay?

My husband is PR so he is a lovely shade of dark brown he usually wears a uniform to work including a bullet proof vest that makes him so hot. Well we were in FLA a couple of years ago and even with what he usually wears he couldn't take the heat. He had to go buy himself some tank tops. He felt so much better wearing them, but was self-conscious because of the hair thing. Well my husband has had a terrible allergy to deoderant in the past and found that he had to start shaving his pits in the summertime, helped him so much. Since then we have found a deoderant he can use so he no longer had to do this, but because of the tanks and the hair thing he did it agian for that vacation. He felt so much cooler and no longer self-conscious. Let's just say that is the only time he wears tanks. We are going again this August and he made sure I packed the tanks (yes, I am already packed). I would pack cotton shirts and shorts for him and leave it up to him what style they will be (tanks, muscle or t's)

Anything that doesn't have cotton and has wicking acryllics will usually do. The Under Armour is good, but I think you're paying for all those NFL endorsements at the prices they charge.

For me, I've found the wicking "performance" underwear at Cabella's works really well. Some of their undershirts are also processed with 'odor' eliminators so hunters aren't stinkin' up the woods. They also help with not scaring off cute red-heads on the El after a particularly stressful day. :)

Since we usually go in December, heat isn't as much of a problem so I can get away with cotton T's and cotton 'cargo' type shorts, my Thorlos and my mesh-top NB walking shoes. I tried the quick drying bathing costumes, but seeing as I intensely dislike swimming in them, I'm not surprised I hated wearing them all day.

--when did it become about the "look" instead of the comfort? if he ain't comfortable/cool, he's gonna be crabby!! just like the "shoes" deal....be comfortable. and if you don't like what u see (hair), don't look!! ;)
