Disney Resorts - I assume all WDW guest itineraries are very similar.
Standard room views could be parking lots, trees, garbage dumpsters, bus stops, roof tops, etc.
We would prefer parking lots & trees.
I assume the best view for standard view is first arrivals first best view.
Our flight will not arrive at MCO till 9 PM.

So when is the Best Check-In day of the week for the Best Standard Views ?

What day of the week did you check in and get a nice Standard view?

Thank you

I think most people do Sunday to Saturday
Or Wednesday to Wednesday to get the least priced plane ticket

Better to check in at 9 AM and wait for a text your room is ready ?
We could stay off site for our first night - then go to our WDW resort around 10 AM
check in, drop off our bags and then visit a theme park.

thank you
I think we will do what ever day is the best plane rate
Stay off site for the first night - get a good nights sleep
The go to the WDW resort in the AM
Drop off bags and go to a theme park
We could go back to the resort in the early evening and unpack into our assigned room.

I think you should focus on check in time and not day, fax in your view request and check in at 3 or 4 to better your chance on getting your request- have fun

I think that's a good plan! There is simply no way to game the system. People check-in and check-out every day of the week and stay for varying lengths of time. I would simply call in and note your request on your reservation. If you don't like the room you are given, you can always stop at the front desk to see if they have something else available.

Nah. Stay at one resort the entire trip. Work with the Front Desk CMs in person to change your room location if necessary.

The only difference I've noticed is that our room tends to be available earlier in the day when we arrive mid-week then when we arrive on a Saturday. Since the hotel room is assigned several days ahead of time then I don't think the day of the week matters much for a standard view. We booked a standard view at POR for a Saturday arrival and had a nice view of trees.

You would assume wrong.
There is no best. Guests come and go every day at all times of day. Disney has too many international guests for it to follow any sort of pattern

Gotta agree there is no standard/ typical/ usual/ best day for check ins at WDW resorts. We have been going for about 23 years & many years we make 2 or 3 trips. If we are going for a week, we usually go Saturday to Saturday. But we have also done Sunday to Saturday; Tuesday to Saturday; Thursday to Sunday; Friday to Monday; Monday to Saturday & Friday to Sunday. In January we are going on a Monday to Thursday trip. Just depends on how long we are going & if we are going for a certain event or just a vacation trip. And we also sometimes do split stays at 2 different resorts during a week long trip.

I think the only way to guarantee you get a good view is to book a room category that includes a better view. Standard view rooms typically look at parking lots & rooftops. I would expect that view & just be happily surprised if you get anything else.

Edit to add: Room assignments also depend on other things. Not everyone cares about the view. Some people request close to food court; close to elevator; close to bus stop; connecting rooms, first available room, etc. Many variables go into room assignments. So early arrivals might not care about the view & the "best" standard view room might be available to someone arriving later in the day. You just never know.

We can not do the 3 PM 4 PM check in time.
Jet Blue plane does not land till 9 PM at MCO

So I think the early bird gets the "worm" - best standard room
We will arrive on a Monday or Tuesday.
So if we stay at a hotel near MCO or at MCO (Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport)
Then we can take DME to our WDW resort the next morning
Wait to see what room we get.

Yes we will put in a room request such as an upper floor near the elevator

Thank you

You can think that but you'd just be wrong. The room is assigned 3 to 5 days before you arrive on property. What time your flight gets in makes no difference.

There's something to be said about getting a room closer to the airport when you arrive late but personally we prefer to get on to Disney in a cheap room and then let them move our bags the next morning to our resort for the rest of the stay. MCO Hyatt is almost always higher than Disney Deluxe resorts. Only once have we found it less than $300 a night and we got really lucky to find it when we had to stay over following a flight cancellation. We got an early flight out the next day and stayed there so we didn't have a long commute to the airport

If you are only staying offsite for one night because you think you will get a better room in the morning, it's just not worth it, IMHO. We once checked into Poly at 11 pm at night and got every single one of our requests honored including connecting rooms. As AngiTN noted, they assign your room days before you even arrive. You don't show up, check-in and THEN they assign the room. It just doesn't work that way. You are making an assumption that someone is checking out of some perfect standard room the morning you check in and it really just doesn't work that way. No matter when you check in, if you don't like your room, simply ask if something else is available. There are zero guarantees no matter what day or what time you check in that you will get what you think is the perfect room.

Agreed. One time, I arrived at POR (still Dixie Landings at the time, so "a while" ago :)) close to midnight. The CM showed me a list of rooms from which I could choose.

I agree with the other posters that it doesn’t really matter. We arrived at the Poly at 10 am last month and got none of our requests. I pressed the desk CM for a better room and was told nothing else was available.

We arrive very late (after midnight) most of the time and we much rather spend that night at our resort then off-site(unless it is a big price difference). We have had many more rooms that met our requests then rooms that have not.

See, that's the point. Your idea of "best" standard room is not the same as everyone else's. Some people would think a ground floor room is the perfect room. Some people think rooms near the elevator is the worst possible room. So put in your requests just as you plan to do. Arrive when ever you want. If your requests aren't met, ask if something else is available that better meets your request. That's all we're saying. Don't worry about day of the week or time of day. If possible, Disney will try to meet your requests.

But remember that if you book a standard room, you are trading a better view for a more economical price. And usually, you get what you pay for. Hope you have a great vacation!
