We have a DS (wll be 11) and DD, 8. Any suggestions for good character dining experiences for them? Thanks~

Who do they want to see?

DS10 goes to the younger ones for his brother but when we just asked him which ones he wants to go to he said Chef Mickey, Garden Grill, and Crystal Palace.

Another one he likes but isnt chaacter is SciFi Diner in Hollywood Studios.

They both said that they don't really care which characters they see. I guess I'm trying to decide if it's worth the $$ if they don't care.:confused3

I think that they will enjoy any of them...they are pretty easy that way.

Which meals are most "interactive"?

thanks!!

Well this is how I look at them. You have to eat, DH wont stand in line at the parks for character meets, so we do character meals. SO we do as many as we can.

Chef Mickey and Crystal Palace are buffets so lot of variety. The characters come to the tables, so you do have to be careful to time your trip tot he buffet line. Both esp Chef Mickey have napkin waving and other hoopla like that.

Garden Grill is much more laid back, the restuarant rotates very slowly so you can wind up in a differnt location then where you start. The meal is served family style with a kids meal as well. They bring you more of whatever you like and our server kept the plates coming. It isnt as hectic so it seems like you get much more interaction with the characters.

Good luck and have fun.

If either one of them likes Stitch then the Ohana breakfast at the Poly was fun. They do a dance around the restaurant that would be childish for them, but the breakfast was family style which was nice because you didn't have to get up from your table. The character interaction was good and this breakfast was yummy.

I'd suggest Cinderellas Happily Ever After dinner at 1900 Park Fare, The Grand.
This is fun for young and well.. everyone
The menu is an Intl buffet and the characteres are Cindy, Prince Charming and the evil stepmother and step sisters... they bicker and banter and yell across the room. My husband loved it! It was great fun and a must do again for both good food options and great characters. One of the best for both boys and girls. It's especially good becuase the characters "talk" and are quite funny.
good luck deciding and enjoy!

During the summer, we took DS17 and DD16 for a week. We had breakfast at Cape May Cafe first. DD16 loved it!!! The food was wonderful and it is not a busy place so the character interaction is great. DS17 and DH had a ball with the characters!! This place has the best character interaction that we've found.

We also loved the Crystal Palace. The food was pretty good but the character interaction was really good too.

At 16 and 17, teenagers don't really turn loose and have a really good time very often. For these hours, they had a fun, silly time!! It was great to see them just being themselves without worrying about being cool!!! I think this may be the plan for this year too!!!
