I'm looking to rent 2 cars at the airport in September for a week and wondered if anyone can share their experiences on the best and worst of car rentals in Orlando.
Thanks!!!

We are renting through Alamo in August, full size car for a base rate of $145.00 for 6 days.

Check the transporation board for more advice!

Never had a worst. I have always used National on every trip except my last, used Hertz. I learned about National here on the Transporation board back in '99, have been very pleased. Heard some good things here on the T board earlier this year and tried last trip, also very pleased. I would check here for more help from many.............

I've had good experiences with Budget.

I rented from Dollar and had no problems.

Our last trip to WDW was in June and I originally made car rental reservations for this trip in February with another company (forgot which one now) The rate was about $210 for 5 days and that price included the AARP discount.

About one week before our trip, I happened to check car rental reservations again for the same June time period. The rates had dropped drastically. I canceled my old reservations and made new ones. For the same 5 days, the new rate was $120.

There are really no "bad" car rental places. You just need to check the rates every once in a while since they can vary quite a lot.

Best, tie between Hertz and National. National probably gets an advantage for being on site. (NOTE: I use EA with National and Gold with Hertz)

Worst. Bar NONE! ALAMO. LINES, LINES and MORE LINES and the hardest push for insurance ever! (I can't seem to join thier club without paying) Second, L&M - I walked away without a car since.... "this week a corrolla is a full size" didn't seem right!

My worst experience was also with Alamo. My car's windshield wipers were shot and we did not realize it until we were in the middle of a very bad storm. That may have changed now that they have been taken over by National.

We've never had a bad experience, but our best experience has been with Dollar. Last trip I went through priceline, and the rental company we got was Hertz. Our experience was fine, but I'd prefer to rent through a car rental company that is at the terminal rather than have to deal with the hassle of a shuttle bus.

I've used Alamo but only once and it was a long line and a HUGE push on the insurance thing.

Since then, I've been using National. They rock! You get to pick your own car(big plus for us non-smokers) and our DS has a great time finding one that he likes, the right color & everything.
You can usually go on www.mousesavers.com to get some good discount codes. Last time I used them it was about $160 for a full-size, I'm an Emerald Club member(see mousesavers for info) and we ended up with a Grand Vitara, so much fun!

We have usually used National and been very pleased. Use Alamo once, and NEVER AGAIN! VERY slow check in and check out and the car was in poor condition. We went right back to National, and have NEVER been disapointed with them.

Thanks for the negative feedback on Alamo! I've just reserved a full size with Dollar for the exact same price! :hyper:

Like Snoopy, I don't want to have to take a shuttle to get my car either! I like simply walking across the driveway and getting in!
