online the rebel xt with kit lens is bout 550, the 430 speedlight, 260 so that would be around 800...guessing that is the flash, the 580( i think that is the right number) is about 130+ more, the other lens is about 200 as well so the price might be a ok, not a great deal, but just be aware the lenses aren't great lenses...i'd probably personally get the kit lens rebel xt and the flash then save up a couple hundred more and get the 70-300 is( bout 500), 70-200L f4( you can find them used for around 500) or maybe the 28-135 is( 400) after i decided which i would use more...

The same items are 927 at buydig and they have no shipping or tax.

So, if you are wondering; no it is not a deal too good to pass up. Unless you are set on a Rebel, there are many other choices and some are even cheaper.

Thanks for the great info! I didn't think canon had a bad lens...guess I need more research. I also thought I had the extra 10% coupon applied but apparently not good on SLRs. It's such a big purchase for me I think I have shopped for 2 years, now. Still leaning towards the Canon. I've had Fuji, exhausted my Kodak, and now I want to expand. The most important fact to me is the indoor flash. Thanks again for the help!

You might spy a great sale on something you've been saving up for, but don't rush right out and make any purchases. You still owe it to yourself to shop around. After all, if one store is slashing prices, doesn't it stand to reason that other shops would too? Reacting too quickly to any good-sounding news today is not wise. Take in the information, but don't shape your life around it. You would be much wiser to wait until the dust settles -- and you know for sure.

i'm not sure when they come out but there may be rebates on canon soon..i thought one was towards fall/winter(?) ...maybe someone will correct my thinking if not...that might make the xt and xti closer in price, i got a hundred back on mine( xt) in june of last yr...and i thought it was 2xs a yr...

The kit lens is really not that bad, it is very under rated. If you compare the glass to any P&S it is stellar. But that doesn't mean that there aren't many more lenses out there with better (and some with worse). With all the L glass I have, I still mostly grab my kit (18-55mm) anytime I am shooting family gatherings indoors (birthdays, holidays). For the price the lens added to my 20D kit, I can't complain.;)

sorry, i might have made it confusing,.,. i meant the 75-300,,, it's just not rated very well most reviews i read so for 200, i get easily annoyed if it doesn't work well when i could have added another 200 and had something i would want to keep,.imo the kit lens is fine as a starter lens till you decide what you want to do down the road and i've seen some really nice shots with it, once again proving the junk i take can't be blamed on the lens:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
