I just changed from the ASMU to the POR. I will be travelling by myself. I do not need to be near the main pool, but would like to not have too far a walk from the food court and one of the bus stops.
The Mansions look nice, what building would better suit my needs?

Partierre Place in Magnolia Bend, 1st floor, nonsmoking close to the bridge to the main building. My parents requested that room and will be there this weekend, so I will let you know how it is!

We stayed in Parterre Place. It is the furthest mansion from the food court/bus stop. However, it really was not a very long walk at all. It was really nice being on the river and it is so beautiful. For a solo person, I would definitely recommend the mansions for their elegance. Any other questions, just ask!

Here is another vote for AB #14.

It is the closest to the main building, food court, lounge, and there is a short cut to the bus stop. Also, the Fultons General Store is "real" close. I know sometimes when I just wish to relax and watch ESPN-Sportscenter, my DW just takes off on her own and goes to the store. Its a very short stroll.

I say Parterre Place is a great location-especially if you request the "quiet" pool side. You're just steps from the bridge to the food court, quiet pool and parking lot. The landscaping in front of this mansion is very pretty and peaceful. I believe I've stayed in rooms 9712 & 9715(my memory ain't what it used to be!)and found these rooms just wonderful.

POR used to be my "solo resort of choice" before we joined DVC. I've stayed there 5 times! Guess I'll go against the majority here-my favorite was Magnolia Terrace. As a matter of fact, Partere Place was the only time I went back after seeing my room and begged for a room change. I didn't mind that they changed me in the same building, what I minded was that I was on the first floor (always preferred upper floors on solo trips), in back, and when I walked out of my room all I saw was bushes and trees that I imagined someone could hide in. And since my room was in the back, no one would see me be attacked! My new room was HA, second floor, facing the river. In Magnolia Terrace, I also faced the river (sort of-hidden behind a post), near the stairs-I loved it! Actually, as long as I was upstairs, not too far from the main building, I loved it. One time, I even checked in at 1:30am and walked alone to my room (why did I refuse their offer for bell services?) I was a little nervous then being alone, especially as I approached a corner, heard voices, then suddenly around the corner came a woman with a formal gown and Mickey Ears! I almost laughed aloud at my own fears then.

Actually, I think Oak Manor would be your bbest choice, it seems to be close to everything.
