Ok, besides the obvious vacationing at disney every year, what is the best benefit of owning DVC? Is it:

the golf discount card
the reduced price on AP's
concierge collection
adventure collection
world passport trades with II
or something else?

Thanks! Looking for more ammo to sell hubby!

Benefits are not guaranteed and can come and go (like the AP discount we received just recently), so I am not sure about trying to sell hubby on those.

The biggest benefits for us are 1. family time at a place we love, 2. the ability to treat our friends and loved ones to special vacations from time to time, 3. the fact that our accomidation price is locked in and will not change for the next 47 or so years, 4. the amazing accomidations.

Most will tell you that trading or using your points for a cruise is not the best bang for your buck. You can rent your points and pay cash for the same accomidations usually for much less.

Those are all nice perks of owning DVC - but none of them are part of your contract. Perks can (and have) changed since we bought in 1999. Might be repercussions later if these turn out to be the convincing factors and they change or get discontinued after you buy! That AP discount is sure a big draw, though, LOL!

To me, one of the best benefits to owning DVC is MS. I don't have to be eternally diligent to make sure I am among the first to call when discounts are released. I dont even have to enter that crazy "dialing derby". I don't have to feel bad that I didn't snag the best rate available. Instead, I just make one call (usually, LOL) and I'm booked in a great resort and since all we're paying now is annual dues, I pay less per stay than many who are staying the same amount of time in a moderate!

Hope your hubby comes around.

Best wishes-

You are basically getting delux (or better) accomodations for teh price of a mod.

The best benefit is being able to stay in a 2 bedroom vacation VILLA instead of a deluxe room, and being able to take friends and family along and offer them free accommodations while they vacation with us.

The best benefit is what we don't have on the morning of check-out--a bill for our accommodations! ;)

We purchased mainly as an affordable way for our family of 5 to stay on Disney property . We usually go with the 1 and 2 bedroom villas so the roominess over a standard hotel room was a huge draw for us. Love having the full kitchen, washer/dryer and jacuzzi as well. We appreciate being able to really spread out and bring guests along. The ability to trade out to other places wasn't what initially hooked us, but it is a very nice perk as well.

Forced vacations that are prepaid. We love going to WDW. And it's fun to bring friends or relative along, especially when they wouldn't be able to afford the accomodations that we are providing. We are bring friends along in Jan and will be getting a two bedroom villa at OKW. They had planned to stay at All Stars or Pop Century, but their daughter is now four and they would have four adults and one child - too many for the values. But with our three and their five, we will fill the 2 bedroom at OKW. Should be fun.

I just joined, but the best benefit I see right now (other than being a member and saving on vacations) is $100 off Annual passes!!!

Flexibility - You are not locked into a specific unit or week. You can tailor your stay to your needs for the trip.....Just the 2 of you?...studio. Inviting friends or family?....2BR or GV. Not going this year :sad2:? ....bank.....going all out ? ....borrow. Want to go to the beach instead?....HH or Vero. Going on a Disney Cruise?....rent your points and pay cash

Spacious accomodations where you can really relax. I go 2 or 3 times a year, I can't imagine that in a regular hotel room.

I like the no bill at checkout too. I remember a trip we took pre-DVC in 10/98 to The Beach Club for 7 nights. I think I came home to $2,000-$3,000 in bills, with the room, food, rental car, purchases, trip to Universal. Bought annual passes so that we could use them for a planned trip the following year, 51 weeks later. Ended up using those passes 4 times!!!!! And bought DVC!

hahahaha this is why I am not sure the AP discount is a benefit :p How many of us are taking extra trips now? lol Hubby and I see how far we can stretch our DVC points and still have gone down 3 times other than that for little weekend trips (Spring Training, next weekend for Star Wars Weekend, hubby went to a conference in Orlando) so SOMEONE at Disney gets a gold star for giving us this "perk". It certainly has allowed them to make more money off our family!!!

A family vacation w/ all of my kids.....

My wife and I, and our THREE boys, ages19, 15, and 9....PRICELESS....
They LOVE DVC, they love the resorts, pools, girls ( that one is for the 19 and 15 year old).

My older boys really don't care for the " Mickey Mouse" Disney thing...they just love the resorts, pools, ESPN, Boardwalk, pleasure island.....just a great place to hang out and meet other kids.
