First time for us at the Pacific Coast beaches. What would be your top two to visit for a family (12-20 year old kids)? We will be staying in Anaheim and will have a rental car--driving is no problem.

We've vacationed a couple of times in Huntington Beach (aka Surf city). It was about a 30 to 45 drive from Disneyland (we went to Downtown DL one morning to shop & eat lunch).

Main Street has a good mix of restaurants. The pier starts at the end Main Street. At the end of the pier is Ruby's where we ate a couple of times. Another restaurant is Duke's which is at street level at the start of the pier. There is a restaurant below Duke's but I forgot the name. It sits on the beach.

There were also public restroom facilities. I don't know about changing/showwering after the beach as we were within walking distance of our hotel but there were showers outside to rinse off your feet
The beaches near San Diego are also so good (loved Coronado )but you will spend more time driving to them.

PS the water in the Pacific doesn't seem to get as warm as the beaches on the Atlantic coast

Another vote for Huntington. Its a great beach and the area is pretty fun too!

Have a great time :dance3: We haven't planned our next trip to HB but it is on our short list
