Best battery for upcoming vacation?

Hi all!
I usually use regular batteries in my canon digital camera. And this has worked out fine for normal everyday use. But on vacation, as you know, the batteries don't last long when you are constantly taking photos.
I am headed to WDW this summer and want to lighten the load I have to carry.
Which batteries do you recommend? Both regular and rechargeable as I have also been thinking of getting the rechargeable kind. Thoughts?
Thanks!

If you do not like the idea of charging, look at disposable lithiums. Typically people get around 1K shots out of a set, but that can vary based on the camera and the uses. They are much longer lasting than alkalines though. If you are a regular shooter at home, then rechargeables are the way to go. I suggest three sets (one in camera, one extra with you, and one back in the room charging).

If you do go for rechargeables, then try to find a charger that has individual circuits for each cell. It will be indicated by having a seperate meter or indicator light for each cell. Also, do not get too drawn in by the fast chargers. They do charge fast, but they caut the overall life of the cell to about half. I would personally not go faster than four hours, but prefer eight.

It sounds like disposable lithium cells may be your best bet, but whatever kind of batteries you decide on *definitely* get them before going to WDW, their prices are unbelievable!

If your camera uses AA's, these new Sanyo Eneloops are supposed to be really great. I'm planning to get a couple sets for my Canon S3, before we go in Sept.

They recharge like normal NiMH's, but they don't lose their charge while waiting to be used. Even better, they come pre-charged from the store so you can put 'em right into your camera!

A set of 4 is about $10 at Circuit City (probably cheaper online) and, if you charged a couple sets of them before you left, they'd be good for your entire trip! Worst case scenario, get a compact AA charger (about $25) and you can recharge them when you're at the World....

I definitely like your suggestion LPZ_Stitch! It sounds convenient and definitely will cost less than in the long run!

Those are supposed to be the best around, but I cannot find them anywhere locally. I just cannot justify the shipping cost when I typically end up using up a charge within two weeks at the max anyway.

Other than the Sanyos, I have heard that the most important thing to look for is Japan made cells instead of China made ones.

I use Energizer lithium batteries (blue and silver.)
They work pretty good for me. I usually buy them at Wal mart. I buy a double pack (8 double a's) for about $16-18 (it's been a while) for an eight day trip. The first set gets me through until about the 5th or 6th day. I change them and the second set lasts me through the rest of the vacation and even a couple of weeks after the trip too (great when I get home and upload my pictures!) I love how long they last. Our last trip in May, I took about 800 or so pictures, they held up really well.
If you have an Eckerd drug store by you, they have them too, for either 8.99 or 9.99 a 4 pack (I forget.) They even had them on sale last month so they were even cheaper. :thumbsup2
I thought of getting rechargeable, but I'm always afraid they'll die on me and I'll be stuck! I'd rather just change them.
