Best area and hotel to stay if driving and stopping in SC

Hi all,

Starting to think about next trip and driving again from NJ. Probably would want to break it in to two days so looking for suggestions and opinions on hotels and areas in South Carolina to stop.

Following, since we’re doing the same journey this summer! I haven’t driven before, but we’re staying off property so we need the car. I have a dog and a baby (he’ll be 12mo when we go) and am breaking it into 3 days so we’re staying in an Airbnb in VA and GA on the way down…didn’t seem to have many pet friendly options in NC/SC along 95 but we considered one in Florence, SC.

We usually stay at Hampton Inn in Santee, SC. There's also an adjacent Fairfield Inn.

Agree with this. We've stayed there with no issues.

Personally, I'd skip Florence and stay in Santee or Walterboro.

We've also stayed in the Santee Hampton Inn (June 2022) with no issues at all.
