What are our opinions on best and cheapest transportation services for 10 people. Renting a van is outrageous. Almost $900 for a week. A few transportation services I've researched are around $300 round trip. I'd appreciate any advice or info on cheaper places. Btw: 2 rental cars is close to $600+ so that's out of the question as well.

Need more info. What do you need transportation for? Where do you need to go? When do you need it?
If you give us more detail, we might be able to help guide you.

Flying into sfb. Going to the pop century resort for a week stay. Will be using the disney busses while on the resort. We don't plan on leaving the resort for any long amount of times. So we don't think that rental cars will be worth the $

Renting 2 cars will likely be the cheapest way. You should be able to get them for a lot less than $600 for the week - start keeping an eye out for discounts.

I could get 2 smaller cars and pay less than 600. Right now what I'm looking at is a standard size vehicle at $261 for the week. Times that by 2 and it around $620. My family isn't small so economy size cars won't work lol plus a little one in a car seat we need atleast standards or full size. Enterprise so far is the cheapest I've fount at the $261 and that's with my husband's walmart associate discount.

A full-size car through Alamo for 12/12-12/13 picked up in Sanford and returned to the Car Care Center is just under $93. The return, picking up the cars 12/18 and driving back to Sanford 12/19, is just under $78. That's a total of $342. Not as good a value, but over $200 less than the two week-long rentals.

And right now you could reserve two seven-passenger minivans from Alamo for $302 each for the week. All these numbers are with a noon pick up and return.

It's best to hang out on the Dec rental car thread and maybe you will find some good deals or coupons posted by fell Diser's

I am paying $180 for a fullsize car thru alamo for 8 days in mid december. I am using a bj's discount. I think the prices are going up now for december. Magical express is free. Why didn't you fly into mco if transportation is a problem?

Because flying thru mco from arkansas was way to high for all 10 of us to afford. Transportation isn't a problem really. I can afford any car I want it's just I was looking for the best and cheapest deal. Because I'm cheap. Haha.

Flying into Sanford may be cheaper, but many people don't take the cost of transportation into account. The cheapest method is almost always renting a car.....but, when you have to rent two cars, and full sized ones at that, costs go up. A private Towncar company is going to be expensive for large groups. There's just no 'cheap' way to do it.

Still, it sounds like in this case, a towncar service is going to be the lowest cost option.

The cheapest all-round is probably going to be Pricelining two rental cars. Both of the cars don't have to be large, just one of them. The best bet for luggage space is a full-size; the most common car in the US rental fleet is the Chevy Impala, which has a positively cavernous trunk. The other car can easily be a midsize to hold 5 people for just the transfers to and from the airport.

Having a rental is useful for getting your maximum money's worth because of the ability to eat or shop offsite. If you are the cheap sort, eating breakfast in your room with items you picked up at a supermarket (including a styrofoam cooler for the gallons on milk!) should make your flinty heart glad.

BTW, I agree with the PP that many people mistakenly think that flying into SFB is a bargain, when usually it is negligibly cheaper. Not only is there large ground transfer cost to be added in, but the domestic airlines that fly there tend to have rather heftier-than-usual baggage charges as well. FWIW, 10 passengers will qualify you for a group rate on SWA, which sometimes isn't all that much cheaper, but tickets purchased under the Group rate are fully refundable, which is often a huge issue when buying air tickets for people other than immediate family.

We are doing exactly what you are needing. We fly into Sanford the Friday before Thanksgiving. We have 2 families with a total of 10 people. We are renting a 15 passenger van from Sanford for $98.99 and dropping it off the next day at the Double Tree at the DTD hotel boulevard. We're then renting a 15 passenger van from the Double Tree the following weekend to go back to Sanford for $152.99. We're splitting the cost of the rentals, so roughly $170 per family with taxes which is a heck of a lot lesss than a car service or taxi.

The best part about renting Budget and Double Tree is they will take you to the resort when you drop the car off and they will come pick you up at the resort when you need to get the return vehicle. This will be the third time we've done this process. Great way to have a car the first night to hit the grocery store and check out resorts without relying on any Disney transportation that first night. Good luck!!!

Thank you everyone for your help. I found a good deal on 2 mini vans so I jumped on it.
In my situation. I searched all my flight options and for us flying into sfb was cheaper by quite a bit. After its all said and done I'm getting flights and 2 vans for less than what it would cost to just fly into mco from little rock arkansas. Thanks again for your help.
